Gabriel sat in the pew of the church, expecting he'd be alone. He wanted to talk to his dad without anyone else listening. He started talking, hoping for responses, but he didn't get any. A boy around the age of 16 was sitting in the back of the church, listening to him. He was the pastor's son.

When Gabriel seemed like he was done, Y/N stood up and slowly walked up to him. He stopped right next to the pew, and Gabriel looked up at him.

"Hey, kid. What are you doing in here this late at night?" Y/N shrugged.

"I dunno. What about you?" Gabriel looked at the ceiling and chuckled.

"Trying to talk to my dad. He won't answer." Y/N looked around.

"Is your dad God?" Gabriel nodded with a smile on his face. He scooted over and let the kid sit next to him.

"So, what's your name?"

"Y/N L/N. My dad's the pastor of the church."

Gabriel nodded and looked down at him. "My name's Gabriel. I'm one of the archangels."

Y/N nodded. "The youngest. Why are you on earth though? Earth sucks."

Gabriel laughed and shook his head. "You wouldn't believe me if I told you."

Y/N shrugged. "Try me."

Gabriel took a deep breath and sighed. "Alright. You know how Lucifer was cast out by Michael?" Y/N nodded. "They are both my brothers. They always fought in Heaven, way before any of this was ever made. When it was, dad told us to love humans more than him. Most of us tried, but Lucifer couldn't. Him and Michael fought and he was sent to Hell, where he was put in a cage." Y/N nodded.

"Oh. So basically he's just upset that humans were created?" Gabriel looked up.

"I guess you could say that." Y/N hummed while he thought. Gabriel smirked and watched him.

"So you came here to leave the fighting?" Gabriel nodded.

"Yep. Then dad left, and no one knows where he went." Y/N looked up at him with confusion.

"What? How can he just disappear?" Gabriel laughed and shook his head.

"You got me. Everyone is looking for him, but he doesn't want to be found." Y/N crossed his arms and sat back against the pew in thought. They both heard the door opening, and they turned around. Y/N's dad came into the church with a flashlight.

"Y/N? Are you in here?" Y/N stood up and looked back to the pew to say bye to Gabriel, but he was already gone.

"Right here, dad." He walked to his dad, who engulfed him in a hug.

"Don't run off like that without telling your mom or I. We didn't know where you went." Y/N felt guilty for leaving.

"Sorry, dad." His dad pushed him out of the hug and looked him up and down.

"What were you doing in here? You should be in bed." Y/N looked around again. He saw Gabriel standing in the shadows in the back of the church.

"Nothing, I was just uh, talking to an angel." His father laughed and started to walk out with his arm around his shoulder.

"Okay, but not this late, buddy. You need to get to sleep." Y/N followed his dad while watching Gabriel. He waved as he walked out and Gabriel waved back. They walked back across the street to their house, and Y/N went to his bedroom. He kneeled next to his bed and did his usual nightly prayer. Gabriel appeared by the door with a smirk.

"If you ever need anything, all you gotta do is pray and say my name. I'll be there to help." Y/N looked over and saw him standing there, leaning against the door frame.

"Okay, I'll remember that. Thanks, Gabriel." Gabriel smiled and nodded.

"Night, kid." He disappeared and Y/N laid down.

"Night, Gabriel."

Y/N would pray to Gabriel occasionally when he would get bored. Being an only child, he had no one to play with, and being the pastor's son, not many kids wanted to be his friend. Gabriel would always come and screw around with him.

As Y/N got older, he didn't pray to Gabriel as much. When he did, most of the time, Gabriel wouldn't show up. When Y/N was 20, he moved out. By the time he was 25, he had an apartment of his own and he had a wife.

He was out late one night after work, coming back from a few drinks. His trench-coat came down to just behind his knees as he walked down the street. He had his head down as he walked, with the brim of his hat hiding his face from the light breeze that blew. He was pulled into an alleyway by a man not much taller than himself.

He looked up as he held his arms to the sides of his head. The man held a knife to his throat as his eyes flashed black. Y/N's eyes widened as the demon pressed the knife against his throat, just enough to make him bleed. The demon then removed the knife and stabbed himself in the chest, pulling the blade out with no damage.

The demon smoked out of his current vessel and into Y/N. The dead vessel dropped to the ground as Y/N mentally fought the demon. While Y/N still had control, he managed to yell out just one word. Gabriel. The demon soon took over and smirked. He reached down and grabbed the knife from the dead body and began to walk to the house of Y/N and his wife.

"Hi honey, how was, oh my goodness, you're bleeding!" Carla ran over with a rag and held it on his neck. The demon smirked and pulled the knife out of his pocket, shoving it into her stomach. She looked up at him in shock as his eyes flashed to black. He pulled the knife out and she dropped to the floor, slowly bleeding out. Inside his mind, Y/N screamed as he watched his own body commit acts that weren't his own.

The demon gave Y/N control back. He dropped to his knees and watched as Carla tried to scoot away from him with all of her energy. He took her face in his hands and wiped away the tears with his thumbs.

"Carla, baby, I'm so sorry. It's a demon doing this. I'm sorry, darling." She grabbed his arm with her bloodied hand and rubbed it as the demon took control again. Y/N yelled and fought as hard as he could, trying to retake control over his body. The demon snapped her wrist as he grinned, then he picked up the knife. Y/N's body stood up and looked down at his wife, laying on the ground.

"Say goodbye to your wife before I kill you both." The demon raised the blade, getting ready to stab the vessel he was possessing when a hand grabbed his arm. The demon turned around and saw Gabriel holding his arm. He pulled Y/N to him and put his hand on his forehead, killing the demon and releasing Y/N. He let go as Y/N dropped to the floor.

Y/N went over to his wife and checked for her pulse as tears ran down his cheeks. When he found none, he looked up at Gabriel.

"Gabe, please, save her." Gabriel looked at him with a sad look. He kneeled down next to the humans and pulled Y/N's hand away.

"Y/N, I can't. I'm sorry. I don't have enough Grace to heal both of them." Y/N looked up at him and frowned.

"What do you mean both of them?" Gabriel sighed as he looked down at Carla.

"Your wife was pregnant with your child. I cannot save them both." Y/N looked down at his wife in horror. He covered his face with his hands and started to cry more. Gabriel put his hand on Y/N's shoulder. Y/N got an idea and looked up at Gabriel.

"Take me instead. Bring them back and use the power of my soul to bring them back." Gabriel looked at him with wide eyes.

"Y/N, I, I don't want to kill you." Y/N stood up and looked at Gabriel.

"I can't live without her. She's my everything. If there is a way to let them live, I'm going to do it. Just erase her mind of me. It's better that she not know me then remember what happened." Gabriel looked at his friend with sad eyes. He closed them and hung his head as he took a deep breath.

"As you wish, Y/N." Gabriel raised his hand and took the power from his soul, then held his hand over Carla's stomach, healing her and her unborn baby. Instead of completely erasing Carla's memories of him, Gabriel made up a story of Y/N being killed while on his way home from work. Gabriel swore to Y/N and himself, that he would always be there for Carla and their child, protecting them every step of the way.
