Chapter 14) Will You Be My Girlfriend?

Katherine and I walked into the house and went upstairs to her bedroom. I was skittish on whether or not I should ask her today, but I wanted to make her mine and to show her the love that she truly deserved after the abusive relationship that she had endured.

When we made our way back into the bedroom, we sat down on her bed and I was beginning to feel nervous and fidgety throughout my body. I was afraid of what her answer was going to be.

"What did you want to talk to me about, Colby?" Katherine asked.

"There was something I've been wanting to ask you lately."

"You can tell me anything. You know that."

I looked at her and seen her beautiful, light and curly brown hair cascading over her shoulders and seeing those beautiful emerald eyes were enough to make me smile like a little kid in a candy store.

I took a deep breath and allowed a small sigh to escape from my mouth, taking the both of her hands into mine.

"Katherine, we've known each other for four months and I wanted to ask you something very important." I looked into her eyes while I started to warmly smile, "Would you take this honor in becoming my girlfriend? I promise to treat you the way you've always wanted to be treated, and to make you the happiest woman alive. I understand that I'm a man with a very busy schedule, but I promise to always make time for you if you accept. If you aren't ready to start a relationship with me right now, I'll understand." I asked.

Katherine looked into my eyes and remained silent. I started overthinking that I asked her too soon, but then she started to smile after I asked the question moments later.

"I'll be more than glad to be your girlfriend, Mr. Lopez."

"Really?" I said, shocked with my eyes widened.

"Of course." She laughed. "I'm not allowing myself to worry about my abusive past relationship with Tony anymore. Brianna told me months ago that I needed to put myself out there more and how I didn't need to keep holding onto the past and being afraid of history repeating itself and she was right the entire time."

"I'm so proud of you, baby." I praised her, "I promise you'll be a happier woman going forward."

I began to blush while I gazed into her eyes, knowing that Katherine was now my girlfriend; and that alone made me feel like the luckiest man alive. After fighting my feelings for her for the longest time, I was more than thankful that everything worked out in the end after many weeks of overthinking the situation.

While we were both silent momentarily, she broke the silence and looked up at me, "Colby?"

"What's up?" I replied.

At first, I thought she was going to thank me for being here for her throughout these past four months that we had known each other but instead, she said the three words that I never thought I'd hear come from her mouth.

"I love you."

Katherine has never said she loved me before. I understood that her past had affected her in the worst way possible to where the word alone frightened her. I took her fears away from her, and I was going to show her that I can be the man that she's always wanted and needed in her life.

"I love you too, Katherine."

I pulled her close to me and crashed my lips with hers with my hands grasping gently around her waist. I felt like the happiest man in the entire world knowing that the woman I loved for months was finally mine and that I could also show her the love that her scumbag of an ex-boyfriend couldn't show her. She deserved everything good coming towards her going forward.

Minutes had passed since the amazing news happened between Katherine and I. We made our way outside the house to seeing Jon, Joe, and Brianna holding a conversation together on the front porch while our hands were intertwined together.

Everyone's eyes began to widen and their jaws had dropped like they had seen a ghost, realizing that Katherine and I had finally become officially a couple.

"Whoa, congratulations man!" Jon said, excitingly, "Finally!"

"Oh my gosh! I'm so proud of you and Colby." Brianna said excitingly as she reeled Katherine into a hug, "It's about time you both finally made the decision on becoming a couple; because we've been waiting for so long!"

"See, man? I knew you had it in you, Colby." Joe looked at me with a smile on his face, "That wasn't so bad now, was it?"

"No, man. I couldn't thank you enough for helping me gain the confidence to ask Katherine to become my beautiful girlfriend." I cackled, "I'm a lucky man, Joe."

Well, it's official. Colby was officially my boyfriend and everything started to feel perfect in my life for the first time in forever. I was worried for a very long time when it came to loving someone else after being abused and being degraded. I was finally thrilled to have someone in my life who has shown nothing but love for me for months on end, and made everything better in our lives; even for the sake of my mental health, he still cared about me.

I understood that Colby was always having to be on the road and having to attend a copious amount of wrestling shows; whether they were televised or house shows along with Jon and Joe. Their bosses were always strict on them, and I was always understanding that a person's work ethics came before anything else.

Deep down, I knew what I truly deserved and that was an amazing man who would step into my life and show me that not all men were pigs, nor abusive. Colby was absolutely perfect and somehow I felt like this was meant to happen between the both of us. What was once a small thought in my head finally became a reality. Who would've known, right?

This was about to be a fresh, new start in my life.
