Chapter 23) Training

The next day approached and I woke up next to a sleeping and snoring Colby with his arm dangling off from the side of the bed. We had another couple of hours of training to complete before I had to head back to the Performance Center to show Hunter and Stephanie that I had what it takes to become a wrestler for NXT.

I was going to have my first ever match against Colby while having them observe me to see if I'm eligible for NXT. After all, Colby told me a couple of months ago that he was the inaugural NXT champion and made history back in the day and I could trust him.

I sat up in my bed and anxiously ran my fingers through my hair. I was always the one to be a perfectionist at almost everything that I was doing and I didn't want to make one slip-up in front of my new bosses.

"Babe?" Colby said, sitting up from the bed and wrapping his arms around me.

"I'm sorry. Did I wake you up?" I asked.

"No." He replied, letting out a small yawn with his chin resting against my shoulder. "I opened my eyes and seen you running your fingers through your hair and I noticed that you seem to do that when you're anxious about something. Are you nervous about our little match in front of Hunter and Steph, Katherine?" Colby asked.

I was shocked that Colby remembered the smallest details about me. He was right, I was anxious about showing off what I've learned from him in front of our bosses.

"Yeah." I said, looking at the floor. "What if I make one little slip-up and Hunter tells me that I can't qualify for NXT?"

Colby quietly chuckled while planting a small kiss on my cheek.

"What's so funny?" I said, confused.

"You have it all wrong, Katherine. Hunter isn't going to reject you if you make one little mistake. To tell you the truth babe, I've made some slip-ups and I learned from them over the course of time. Hunter has also made mistakes too in the past and look at him now; he became the C.E.O. of the WWE after wrestling for many years."

"You're right, Colby." I said, smiling.

Hours later, we began our small training session until Hunter called Colby and told him that he and Stephanie were on their way to the Performance Center. After we finished the small portion of training, we sat down on a steel chair while talking to each other and waited for Hunter and Stephanie to make their way into the building. We heard a door opening and it was our bosses as they greeted us with a hug.

"Hey, Katherine!"

"Hi, Hunter!"

"Wanna show us what you got?" Stephanie said, smiling from ear-to-ear.

"Definitely!"

Colby and I had a small match to see who would take the pinfall and after a few minutes of wrestling against him, the referee hit the three count onto the ring and I won the match by pinfall. Hunter sat up from his chair and applauded me with a smile on his face.

"You were incredible out there! I think you're ready!" Stephanie said.

"I think it's time for you to start wrestling on NXT."

"Thank you both so much!" I said, giving them a hug.

"Hey Trips?"

"Yes, Colby?"

"Does this mean that Katherine and I are going to be separated for awhile? I mean, I'm on the main roster and she'll be on NXT."

"Here's how it'll work. Katherine will appear on the show once the story-line between you both happens and it'll be between Nick and Lana."

"I had a pretty good feeling that you were going to make Katherine and I have a feud with Nick and his girlfriend."

"Here's the catch, she'll also be wrestling for NXT while doing this love angle between you both against Nick and Lana."

"Fine by me, Trips."

"Katherine starts next Wednesday. I will let the both of you know when the story-line will be in effect."

Hunter and Stephanie left the Performance Center, leaving Colby and I to ourselves.

"I'm so proud of you, Katherine."

"I never thought this would happen to someone like me."

"When are you going to tell Brianna the news?" Colby asked.

I put some thought into it and looked at him with a smile on my face.

"Because Brianna watches NXT after her shift every Wednesday, she'll see me making my in-ring debut and I cannot wait to hear her reaction." I laughed.

Colby started to laugh while pulling me into a hug.

"You're a little sneaky about things like this, huh?"

"Duh." I said with a devilish smile.

After we left the Performance Center, we drove over to Indiana for a house show and we were about to meet up with Jon, Joe and many of the other superstars. I haven't had the opportunity to meet the other women or men that wrestled. I was only close with Colby, Joe and Jon and also Hunter within a few months that I've been into wrestling.
