When I open my eyes all the voices fade away. Replacing the fighting pit is the art classroom. Sun dipping through the windows my hazy gaze trails around until Murphy's head comes into focus. Hastily, Murphy's helping me lean up "There you are. Just the bad bitch I'd been hoping to snap from her hallucination." Glancing around I lazily push Murphy's hands away, my fingertips reaching up to tap my cheeks. Touching the salty tear stains, I feel my heart stop once more.
You're a murderer.
Why didn't you save me?
You promised to protect me.
You're no better than them.
You're a monster-
"Hey, hey, hey Ave", Murphy reins back my focus. Kneeling in front of where I've pushed myself against a wall, Murphy stresses to me "None of it's real Ave. Remember? It's the toxin in the air."
Staring at Murphy wide-eyed, I can't help but apprehensively mumble "Are you real?"
Reaching out to me, Murphy snatches one of my hands before I can yank it away. Feeling his tight warm grasp around my hand, Murphy assures me without a doubt "Feel that? It's real. I'm real but I might not be for much longer if you can't help me knock Bellamy out." As I continue to stare Murphy apprehensively in the eye, he sighs and rolls his own "Come on. This is the one time I actually need your brain and you've checked out?"
Flinching as I flex my jaw, I gently touch my lip. Seeing the blood on my fingers, I hesitantly ask "Did you slap me?"
Murphy seems to debate answering for a second before deciding to confess "I had to snap you out of it somehow."
Huffing I roll my eyes "So naturally you slap me."
"There she is", Murphy his concern morphing into a smirk he helps to haul me back to my feet. "Team Murvery is back in the game that is our survival on an unknown planet."
"Firstly that's a horrible name for us", I let him help me back to my feet "Secondly it's a moon, not a plan-"
