Wild looked back to make sure he was out of sight, and when he saw that he was, he leaned up against a tree and took a deep breath. It was stupid how anything that had something to do with a memory set him off.
He rubbed his eyes. He didn't want any tears to fall, in case someone noticed that he had been crying. If someone saw, they would know that something was up. That would defeat the whole purpose of hiding all of this. They would feel bad for him, and they'd try to comfort him. It would take away from their own happiness, and he didn't want that. If he couldn't be happy, then at least other people should have that opportunity.
He slid down until he was sitting on the ground. It'd be nice if he could just forget those things again. Maybe die a second time. Maybe he'd have to do it himself. He wouldn't mind if that was the case.
Then he remembered Zelda's reaction when he died in the memory. It made him want to do this less. Imagine the other's reactions to it. He wouldn't be able to bear it. But he wouldn't be there to witness it, so why should he care? So why was he so afraid of the outcome? That was the entire point. He didn't want to exist anymore.
Oh well. He'd last a little longer.
[Ooooooh it's coming! Exciting!]

"Hey, Wild? You okay?"
Wild looked up at Twilight, who was walking over to him. He nodded
"Legend told me what happened. Are you sure? Was it a memory?"
He nodded again. He didn't really care what Twilight thought he answered. Anyway, the nod was an answer to both questions.Twilight nodded back and left. Where was he going? Though Wild wanted to know, he didn't get up to follow him.
Instead of Twilight, the wolf came back. How did it get here? The wolf padded over and curled up next to him. He put his chin on Wild's legs.
"You're a good boy," Wild said softly. He talked to animals. They didn't understand sign language.
The wolf smiled. Or, the wolf equivalent of a smile.
Wild sighed. Just thinking about Zelda made him sad. Why? Why did it upset him so much? He could see her at any time he wanted. She was still alive. Yet it still felt like he had lost something. Maybe it was that he didn't know her anymore. Maybe it was their relationship. Yes! That's what it was.
Their relationship. What happened between the time he saved her from the Yiga and when she went to the Spring of Wisdom?
Probably nothing. Their relationship was likely a friendship, at most. That could be rekindled easily.
His thoughts brought tears to his eyes. Again. It felt he was doing this every day. Too often. It would give it away eventually.
He wiped the tears away before they got the chance to fall. Maybe if he stopped thinking, he wouldn't cry. Maybe if he didn't exist in the first place, none of this would have happened. Maybe if he were... he needed to stop.
He took his knife out of his pocket, struggling a bit to not disturb the wolf while doing so. He readied his arm and began.

"Time?"
"Yes?"
"He did it again."
"?"
"The thing with the knife. I didn't stop him, though. I was in wolf form. He didn't know it was me."
"Didn't you take his knife?"
"Yes, but he must've gotten another one. I don't know how long he's been doing this. It's worrying me. What is he going to do next?"●●●
"Hey, Twilight?"
"Yeah?"
"Is Wild really okay? He told me he is, but it doesn't seem like it. Actually, he seems... sadder. And like he's forcing himself to act happy."●●●
"Hey, Time."
"Hey. I'd like to show you something."
"What is it?"
"My scars."
"I've seen them-"
"These are different."●●●
"Wild?"
~no answer~
"Wild."
~still no answer~
"Are you okay? Please tell the truth."
"Yes. I'm fine. Great, actually. You don't need to worry about me. You're just a kid."
"Just cuz I'm 10 doesn't mean I can't worry about things."
"You have better things to worry about. I can take care of myself."
"Wild, I'm scared."
"Of me?"
"No. For you."●●●
"Stop it! I've told everyone here that they don't need to worry about me. Why do you care? It's not like I'm important."
"You are, though."
"I was. Not anymore. Just f**king go away and worry about yourself."●●●
"He cursed at me! He tries to act like he's fine, but I can tell he isn't."
"I know. And I understand. It's been a long time, but I understand."
"So what should I do?"
"Listen to him. Tell him you care. But you also need to give him space. If you tell him you care too often, then he won't believe you."
"Got it."●●●
"Wild?"
"Yes?"
"I just want to tell you, I know exactly what you're going through."
"I am fine."
"I know you aren't. Trust me, I know. I can help you, if you'd like. No, I will help you. You need it."●●●
