Twilight looked out the window. Wild was nowhere to be seen.

Time was in the corner of the room, furiously flipping through a notebook. He groaned in annoyance and set it down next to him. He stood up and noticed that Wild had left the Sheikah slate.

He walked over and picked it up. He turned it on and found an items tab. It had a list of everything Wild had, with stats. Maybe it would be here. Of course, he wouldn't have put the mask he was wearing in it yet, but he probably had that other one in here.

He found it. There were a few notes under it.

• when worn, monsters won't attack on sight
• handy during a blood moon
I get an odd feeling when wearing it. I don't like that. Luckily, it's not too bad.
• scares the shit out of people, which is hilarious
• from Time's story??? He's never mentioned it before...

Interesting.

He looked through the items some more before finding the sword. The one that Wild took with him.

Fierce Deity Sword

60 damage
charge atk. stamina up
sheikah slate desc. says it was used by a "hero from a world in which the moon fell." I wonder who that was
I feel oddly powerful with this in my hands
using this while wearing that creepy mask that makes monsters like me is a bad idea

Also interesting. The powerful bit made complete sense, and he could understand the mask part. But what happened when he did that? And how did the slate know about the moon thing? That was in a different world, and he hadn't told anyone. Well, not yet. Maybe he'd tell it in the future.

At least he knew that the sword still had power in it. But that was evident.
All he had to do to see that was found Wild.

Speaking of which, where was he now?

Powerful.

Powerful enough to destroy it.
Whatever it was.

Somewhere.
It was somewhere.

He could find it.

Malice.
He could feel the Malice.
Flowing from it.

A powerful source of energy.
Almost as powerful as him.
But not any more.
No, that was impossible.
He was the most powerful thing here.
Even more powerful than it.

Almost more than her.
Almost.

People stared.
Let them stare.
He was more powerful than them.
Why should he care what they did?

As long as they didn't hurt her.

He must protect her.
Pure, magical.
Holy being.
Just like him.

He could die.
But why would he let that happen?
Death was a choice.
If you were to die, then it was your fault.
Even if it was someone else's doing.
You could have prevented it.

He used to be weak.
But not anymore.

He'd never take this off.
If he did, he'd lose.
He'd lose this power.
And the power made him feel good for once.

He never felt like this.
So wonderful.
Not like a waste.

That boy.
Hurt her.
Insulted her.

So he would be next.

That boy.
Told him to die.
To leave.
To do it.

So he would be next.

That boy.
Broke his only physical memory of her.
Her trident.

So he would be next.

He would be next, next, next.

He danced.
So carefree.

But he was on a mission.
But he could take his time.
He was in no rush.
Why would he be in a rush, if he had already waited so long?
Anyway, he didn't like feeling rushed.

Dead silent.
Didn't mean much.
Just quiet.

Glowing eyes.
Staring at nothing.
Not looking where he was going.
He just knew.

Just dancing along.

Then, he stopped.
Put his hands up.

Willed it to happen.

Explosion.
Explosion of Malice.
Direct it.
Try...

Not working...

Control...

Power....

Too much......

Can't........

Ah

First, they heard it. A loud boom.

Then, an explosion of black and pink and blue.

It nearly knocked the house down. Well, not really. It did break a window and blow glass all over the room.

Wind sat up, woken from his sleep. Time stood up and ran to the door. He opened it and went outside.

There was sticky black and pink stuff all over the ground.

He ran.
Towards where the blast had come from Hyrule field.

He didn't even get very far before he saw it. A ball of blue light in the sky. Big enough to be seen from where he was. Upturned dirt just below it.

Then, a blinding yellow light from the castle. He stumbled back and fell to the ground.

And the light faded.

All that was left was a small shape on the ground and someone running toward it.

He ran back to the house and grabbed a horse, then hurried out to the field.

When he got there, he nearly fell off the horse. He had been going awfully fast.
He slid off and ran over to Wild and his Zelda.

Wild was lying on the ground, and his Zelda was kneeling next to him. She seemed to be checking him over for injuries. No doubt he was badly hurt.

Time crouched next to him and wordlessly began to tighten at the mask on his face. She looked up at him, then at the mask. She touched it, and her hand glowed a little. The mask fell away, uncovering a strained face.

Blood was dripping from his forehead and mouth, and he appeared to be in pain. His eyelids fluttered and revealed that his eyes were glazed over and devoid of emotion. His eyes shut again almost as soon as they opened.

Zelda gasped and put her hands on his cheeks. Her eyes were tearing up. She was obviously terrified for him.

She rubbed his head, softly humming something. It was a familiar tune.

Zelda's Lullaby. Of course she'd know that.

She closed her eyes and quietly said,
"I'm sorry. I... can't do this. Not right now."

She stood up and held her hand out. He vanished, and a small golden light took his place. It floated up into the sky, slowly disappearing as it rose.

Then, she turned away and left.
