Zelda panicked a little. Why wasn't the Sheikah slate working? Why wouldn't it teleport them? She didn't understand. Was it the cold? Or maybe it was the fact that it was wet. No, it had been in the water before. She had seen Link swimming around with. And it still worked then.

What would she do? The Sheikah slate couldn't contact anyone. She had to be reasonable. She took a deep breath, looking around. Maybe if she put him in a warm place- not that there was an actually warm place nearby- then she could go get help. She sure couldn't carry him the whole way to Rito Village.

She saw a tree with less snow under it than any other spot, so she dragged him over there. She adjusted the coat so that he was well covered, and she put his stuff near him. Then, she took the Sheikah slate and ran to the village as fast as she could.

She didn't even make it into the village. She asked for help as soon as she got to the stable. There was a Rito there, talking to someone, so she went to then first. She figured they could get there faster.
"Help! Link, he needs to be brought here, I found him in a river-"
"In a river? Where?"
"I can show you. If you'll help me. Please."
The Rito nodded and followed her as she ran back to where Link was.

When they got back, he looked even worse. The Rito picked him up and they went back to the stable, where he got beds for them. Zelda thanked him profusely before going to help Link.

Another person at the stable saw and walked over. They offered to help, and Zelda gladly took the offer. She told them what happened, and they informed her that he probably had hypothermia.

"We'll need to take his wet clothing off and replace it with something warm and dry, like a blanket."
She nodded, following the directions.
"And those bandages. We can replace them immediately."
She nodded and removed them. The person gasped upon seeing his chest.
"Um, it looks like he needs new bandages. I'll go get some."

Zelda nodded and watched as they walked away. She wanted to make sure they didn't just leave. And they didn't. They came back quickly, holding some bandages.

"Do you want to put them on?"
"Yes, please. Thank you."
She took them from the person's outstretched hand and began to wrap them around his torso.
"Oh, and take the bandage off of his arm."

She nodded and unwrapped that as soon as she finished with the one on his torso.

What she saw, she didn't like.
"Oh."
That was all she said before quickly putting new bandages over the marks on his arm. Then, she put her coat on him and grabbed a blanket, which she also wrapped around him.

The other person then helped her place him on a bed, then they left them alone.

Zelda pulled up a chair and sat on it. She sighed. Hopefully he'd be okay. She didn't know what she'd do without him.

Jeez, such dark thoughts. Oh well. Those were normal enough nowadays. She was used to it.

He was cold. Freezing cold.
But he felt something warm on his hand. He slowly opened his eyes and looked at his hand. There was a second hand on top of his own. He looked at the person the hand belonged to. Zelda. He smiled.

Her eyes were closed, but didn't seem to be asleep. If she was, then she was sleeping very lightly.
"Zzlda..."
That was all he could manage. He was exhausted.

Her eyes flew open, and gasped, smiling.
"You're awake! Thank goodness, I was so scared-"
She stopped when he put his hand up to stop her.
"Heheh. Sorry."
She lifted her hands and clasped them together.

He reached up a bit and pulled one of her hands down before holding it against his cheek. Ah. Warmth. It felt nice. He reached up and took her other hand, which he held against his other cheek. He closed his eyes, smiling.

Zelda sighed a little, and he opened his eyes. Her face was reddish. Why was it so cold inside?

After a while, he let go of her hands. He didn't want to keep her from doing anything. She kept them on his cheeks for a moment before pulling them back.

He sat up and saw that they were in a stable and that he was wearing a coat. It was white and fluffy. Probably Zelda's.

He looked at her and smiled. He didn't feel like talking. It felt like if he tried to talk, then no sound would come out. She smiled and adjusted her hair so it was covering her ears better. They were probably cold.

Zelda moved her chair closer to the bed and leaned forward. She gently put her arms around him, not saying a word. He was a little surprised, but he returned the embrace. She was warm. It felt nice. They hugged for a while, neither of them wanting to move away.

Then, after a few minutes, Zelda let him go and sat back. He didn't to let go, but he did. He looked at her and noticed that she was smiling. It was a sweet smile. She was cute when she smiled like that.
Cute?
He shook his head. Stupid. That was stupid.

He shouldn't be thinking like that. It would distract him from his job.

That smile... the first genuine smile of his that she had seen.
It was so nice. She wished he'd smile more. She'd love that.

~No kissing! Not yet, at least... Something has to happen first...
