Twilight watched the spot where Wild's Zelda would appear. He knew it would likely be a while before she got back, but he couldn't focus on anything else.

Time had come over and was now sitting at the table, but all he was doing was silently staring off into space. Wind had gotten up, but he was sitting by Wild in Time's place. Everyone else was either back in their own Hyrule or off doing something else.

It was awfully quiet.
And it felt weird. The atmosphere was odd. Probably because this was the second time- no, third time that Wild had died. Second time that he did it himself.

Oddly enough, it seemed like this time, some of them were affected by it worse. Wind seemed to be more upset, Time was... well, something. Something was wrong with him.

Twilight stood up and walked over to Wind.
"Hey. How are you doing?"
Without looking at him, Wind said,
"F**k off."
"I... I just want to know if you're okay. You're acting awfully-"
"I said f**k off. Go away."
"Okay. I'll leave you alone."
"You better."

Twilight walked away, but not even two minutes passed before he heard Wind crying. At first, he didn't go over, knowing that Wind would just tell him to leave, but after another minute went by, he headed back over.

"He's just gonna keep doing this... over and over again..."

He hadn't thought about that.

"I just want him to be happy..."

Me too.

"This is all because of me... if I hadn't told him to do it, he wouldn't do this..."

He doubted it. He had a feeling that Wild had already been planning it then. And this time had nothing to do with Wind. Nobody had prompted him. That's why it was so much worse.

Wind looked up at the sky and stuck his middle finger up.
"F**k you, Hylia! F**k you! You want this to happen! You think he's a failure, don't you? You want him to die!" He stood up. "F**k off, you bitch! F**k off!"

Twilight gasped. What was Wind thinking?

Behind him, back in the camp, Wild's Zelda appeared. She heard the shouting and look over at Wind and Twilight.

"I hate you! You did this! You f**king bitch! I'm never coming here again! If you keep making him do this, I'll do it too! And you can't f**king stop me! I'll-I'll push Zelda into the sea! I-I- Oh, who f**king cares?"
Wind dropped his hand and looked down. He kicked Wild a little before stepping over him and walking away.

Both Zelda and Twilight were left to wonder what just happened.

Zelda ran over, leaving the sword in the ground.
"What's going on?"
"Wind was cursing Hylia."
"What!?"
"He said that she was making Wild do this."
"I- no." She looked down. "In a way, I guess."
"What do you mean?"

Then, so quietly that Twilight could barely make it out, she said,
"It's my fault."
"What? No, it isn't."
She looked back up at him.
"Says the guy who said the exact same thing."
"That's because it is my fault. I didn't give him enough support."
"Yeah, well I didn't give him enough support- wait."
"I... guess it was both of us, then."

Zelda straightened up.
"Anyway, I have the fairies."
She pulled a fairy out of the bag and handed it to Twilight.
"I have two more in case it doesn't work."
He nodded and tossed the fairy onto Wild. It circled around him before flying away and disappearing.

They stood there for a moment, waiting. Zelda reached into the bag, ready to take a second fairy out. Just before she gave it to Twilight, Wild's arm moved. It was just a little, bit it was enough. She dropped to her knees, smiling. She turned him a little so that he was facing him, but she stopped midway and pulled her hands away. She stood up and looked at Twilight sadly.

"What? Is something wrong?"
"No, I just... I think it would be better if he stayed here. Away from me."
"Why?"
"I'd just hurt him more. And I'm busy."
Before he could protest, she shoved the Sheikah slate into his hands.
"Take this. I'm taking his things. I don't want him to hurt himself."
"What about a sword-"
"Hell find one."

She walked away quickly and grabbed the Master sword. She lifted it up and pushed it into the ground, disappearing.

Twilight looked back down at Wild, still holding the Sheikah slate. He crouched down and put a hand on Wild's neck. There would be a scar there now. He knew that Wild liked to keep his scars covered up. How would he cover this one?

If it were him with these scars, he'd want to cover them as well. But the others... he'd wear proudly. They showed how tough he was. But Wild saw them as a sign of weakness.

He lifted Wild up and carried him back to the camp. He felt his chest rise and fall, and he smiled. He was alive again.

He thought about what Wind had said, making him frown. He'd just keep doing this. A neverending cycle. A cycle of death, life, death, life, death. Was Wild hoping that eventually, they'd just give up?

That would never happen. They'd never give him up.

"Why do we even bother? At this point, it's futile."

He looked at Time, surprised to hear him say something so... depressing.

"Excuse me?"
"Wild. He's just going to do this again. Why bother bringing him back?"
"What are you talking about? What's gotten into everyone?"
Time sighed before saying,
"I don't want to do this again."
He stood up and walked away.

What was going on?
