Chapter 29

****Mora****

Kaiden cuddles into the pillow refusing to wake up as his alarm rings for his morning run and training. He groans and burrows deeper into the covers frowning as he searches for me.  I chuckle and turn it off.

I trudge toward the bathroom and take a scorching shower. Emerging from the stall, I look in the mirror and notice the soft smile on my face. My usual dark circles were gone replaced by a happy glow.

It was relieving to finally know my past even though that doesn't make it less confusing and confirm my father's and mother's stances. Although I was disappointed, I decide to let it go.

I try to style my hair, but, Goddess knows, I was horrible at it.  Eventually, I left it out and walk downstairs to grab Kaiden some coffee.

I smirk at the memories of last night when I brought him to his climax and felt grateful. Kaiden knew what I lack was control over my circumstances and my life and willingly gave up his control to me even though we were both Alphas.

I found my mother leaning over the counter and sipping a cup of coffee deep in thoughts. I hesitate to walk toward her.

She smiles softly and tilts her head. "Hey."

I nod at her and grab a mug in the cabinet while avoiding her gaze.  She watches me curiously and I grit my teeth in frustration when I spot the empty pot of coffee.

"You want some breakfast? Although I'm not as good as Hunter, I promise to try and make you the best eggs and bacon possible." She said as she sits on the edge of the kitchen watching me set up the coffee.

I stop at the mention of food and nod once again. She beams and immediately busied herself in the kitchen. I watch entranced by her movements. It was fascinating to have a mother's care. I didn't expect it to be so sweet.

Uneven footsteps approach and Scott stumbles in the kitchen. My smile disperses and I wave at him.

He yawns and takes a seat next to me. He opens his half-closed and grin when he saw me. "Hi, Mora."

I ruffle his hair and smile. "Morning, Scotty."

"Ah, you met mommy?" I nod and he beams. "She's cool, isn't she?" He lays his head on the table and returns to sleep. I didn't answer and pretend not to notice my mother listening in.

A while later, she sat two plates in front of me and one in front of Scotty who immediately wakes up from the smell of bacon.

I mumble my thanks and ate my food while she covered Kaiden's food. She looks at me expectantly and I look away.

"So... how is it?" She asks dwindling with her hands.  Scotty put his two thumbs up and nod. She pats his bulging cheeks and looks at me.

"It's good," I respond smiling softly. Although it was a bit salty and didn't compare to Kaiden's food, it was the best.

She smiles gratefully and sips her cold coffee. "Do you want to go to the mall with me? I want to buy you something if that's okay with you. I realize that I don't know your size and your favorite things, although Ella did tell me that you liked meat. "

"That'll be cool. " I said and carry my plate to the sink. Scotty follows and washes his plate before he stumbles back into his bedroom to sleep.

"Good. We can go now before everyone's awake. Should we meet back here in 10?" She bites her lips and waits for my response. I chuckle and grab the food.
