Her Daddy has issues

Chapter 23

***Kaiden***

I pull into the driveway with my car and notice a crowd around the packhouse. I raise an eyebrow in surprise and stride toward the opened door.

The moment I stepped into the house, I left and checked the front door to make sure that I was at the right house. I move out of the way of the construction worker and head toward my dad who had waves of disappointment and resentment coming off of him as he stares at the living room.

"I didn't know that we were renovating the house," I said as I greet the construction workers and my dad. 

I take the initiative to talk to him, breaking our cold war. 

"We were not. It was a sudden decision." My dad responds through clenched teeth. " We had some issues this morning."

"Really? Well, you got a great landscaper. They tore the wall so quickly without a scratch on the ceiling or the floor.  The precision!" I grin at my dad and he blinks slowly. 

"You can thank your girlfriend for that." He drawls out and crosses his arms. He gestures for me to follow him and I  do so. "and her special father."

"Mora? Is she interested in construction work?" I ask confused. 

"No, she just met her parents." He said knocking on a guest room's door. "I feel for the girl."

"Oh, my Goddess! Seriously? I'm so happy for her. Where is she? Did they go shopping? They have so much catching up to do!" I cry, happily, and suddenly frown. "Wait ... downstairs... Don't tell me they fought?"

My dad nods. "Yep. And..." He raises a finger angrily. " they broke my favorite table and vase. But that's not the point. I'm pretty sure that they broke her. Poor girl."

"What kind of asshole bullies their child when they haven't seen them in years?" I ask and gesture angrily.

My dad's dark mood brightens a little. Happy to badmouth his least favorite friend. "Hunter does. He's a whole ass jerk. Gosh, I wanted to throw some punches at him so bad. He's such a dick. Too bad, he's the head of Alpha association and I can't touch him." He growls and knocks harder. 

"It's open." A warm voice calls out. I glance at my dad and he opens the door while rolling his eyes. A man casually leans on the bed while flipping a page on his book. My dad sneers and the man looks up smiling. 

"Kai, meet Alpha Hunter." My dad rolls his eyes while I look at the familiar face that I see on TV all the time. Alpha Hunter puts his book down and scrutinizes him. "Mora's father."

"Badmouthing me, Ash?" He chuckles. He turns his gaze to me. " I heard that you are my daughter's mate. It's nice to meet you. Let's go on a run after I'm healed."

I said nothing and stare at him. He didn't look ... evil? "Where is Mora?" I ask my dad keeping my eyes on Alpha Hunter. He watches me amused that I was ignoring him. 

"With her mother, Ale- Naomi. They are catching up. She should be coming up here in a minute." Alpha Hunter responds naturally and crosses his hands. "Now, Kai, why don't you introduce yourselves properly to your elders? "

"I don't feel like interacting with a child's beater right now. Now, if you'll excuse." I turn to leave the room passing my amused dad.

"Stop!" Alpha Hunter orders and every fiber in my body freezes as the Alpha's command takes over. " You are years too young to criticize or advise me, pup. Stop acting like a child and Let's talk things out. Man to man, ok?"
