Chapter 42

Mike: Hey, dickhead. Luna Black is sending Jason to check on Kaiden. He's safe, right?  Keep an eye on Jason for me. He's been in a bad mood, and I'm afraid that he's going to take out on the kids. Stay gay!

Jade grits his teeth at his idiotic brother's message, but he was a bit relieved. He wasn't the only one who acted on impulse when his Alpha was in 'danger'. It's the thought that counts, right?

He groans. He was so embarrassed and felt dumb. Collecting his items, he spots Eros. He was fighting a monster with a fierce grin on his face. Suddenly, his surrounding became lifeless and the monster explodes into dust. 

Jade sucks in a breath and Eros freezes. His eyes widen when he spots Jade. His deranged grin quickly fades from his face. 

"You're doing it again, aren't you? "Jade asks and Eros hides his hands behind him. "You're absorbing their power."

"Jade." Eros starts, but nothing else came out of his mouth. A guilty look came on his face and he rubs the back of his neck. "Yeah. I was. Fighting was part of my mission." 

He tries to laugh it off, but all that came out was an awkward chuckle.  Jade smiles and wraps his arms around him. 

"I'm not a warlock or whatever. I don't know if what you're doing is healthy. Just make sure that you're safe."

Eros releases a relieving breath. "Yeah. Thank you for having confidence in me." He leans into Jade's embrace. "And you? How are you feeling?"

"I'm feeling better actually. Better than earlier. I know that I shouldn't be feeling sorry for myself since I was the one who let him down first. " Jade places his forehead against the crook of Eros' neck. He sniffs in his scent and felt himself relaxing. "But, your presence makes it better."

"It's the least I could." Eros smiles and ruffles his hair. "Did you finish your missions yet?"

Jade grins and became his enthusiastic self again as he displays all the items he found.  

"Ah," Jade exclaims. "I forgot to tell you. Apparently, my brother in law is coming because the pack is worried about Kaiden."

"He's coming?" Eros felt worried.

"Yeah. I tried to convince him not to come, but he persisted. He said that he needed a break, so he might as well do the pack a favor." Jade shrugs. 

"Then, we should probably let Kaiden know." Eros said, pulling him along.

"By the way," Jade utters. " Are we still in the trial period in our relationship? I'm quite serious about you."

"I don't know. It still feels new to me, being around you. I feel nervous and excited but also scared. I'm trying to put myself at ease, but I still worry." Eros replies without turning around. But, since his hair was in a high ponytail, Jade could see his reddening ears. 

"Me too. There are still so many mysteries around you, and I feel scared that you won't trust me. But, I'm serious about you, Eros. Nothing will change that. You make my heart race and my world less bleak." Jade declares softly. "So, take whatever time you need. I can be patient." 

Eros turns around and smiles. "Stop." He whines softly and pulls Jade into a soft kiss. 

***Mora***

Mora strolls into the maze and takes in her surrounding with a grin.  She enjoyed the wind running through her hair, racing past her face. She enjoyed the freedom of it all.  Mora takes off in a run and shifts in mid-air, landing on the soft grass.
