CHAPTER 44

***Mora***

I woke up in a weird mood. The world seemed a little slower and my body heavier. Kaiden was not beside me, but, looking at the time, I was the one who overslept.

I got dressed and stare at the mirror. A light grin crawls to my face, brightening my mood.

"Sure you got issues, but, damn, you look good." I whisper to the confident girl in the mirror while pinning down a wild braid.

My first mission was to find the White Mage and get her to undo whatever she did to me. I grab my bag and head out. On the way, I make eye contact with Richard and Prince who had a cocky shit-eating grin on his face.

If I was in a normal mood, I would probably indulge in his daily clownery, but today, I didn't have the energy.

Beaming, he opens his mouth. "If it isn't th-" He stops abruptly as I look ahead and pass him.

I could feel their scorching gaze on my back,  but did I care? No, not really. I finally found what looks like the most mediocre office that I've ever seen, not that I've seen many since I was almost kidnapped in the first one I saw. I snort and knock lightly.

The door opens, and the white mage waves. She lowers her hood, and I stare at her as I sit down.

"What?" She asks, setting a cup of tea and a plate of cookies in front of me.

"Nothing. You don't look like what I expected, especially being called the white mage and all." I mutter and sniff the tea like the savage  I was.  I chuckle and sigh. I am tired of myself.

She laughs and gives me a look. "Oh come on. What did you expect from a magical land with summer all year long?"

I bit into a cookie and shrug. She laughs and shakes her head. For some reason, her office was quite warm and calming. No shapeshifters in the closet,  no judging stares, or estranged parents.

"What can I help you with today?" She asks, settling behind her desk. Her two differently colored eyes sparkle as if she knew why I was here. But, again, it doesn't take a genius to know why I'm here.

I narrow my eyes and frown. She grows serious as she waits. What was her name again? I bit my lip and search my mind. I can't refer to her as the white mage forever. I could but...

"Ms. Zamora?" Her voice interrupts my wandering thoughts and I blink at her.

I grin. "Sorry. I wanted to get my strength back."

"About that." she starts. "I wanted to talk to you."

I freeze and prepare for the worst. Of course, the cookies came with a  price.

"I've been watching you." She snaps her finger and a cup of coffee materialize in her hands.

That's not creepy at all.

She notices my face and smile. "As an advisor. The more I do, the more I realize ... um... the complexity of your emotions. I'm sure you've already been through this before with the whole learning how to act like a human thing, but I feel that it's more than necessary in your current state."

"You're not returning my strength." I said slowly as a chill settle in my bones.

She blinks, taken aback. "No. Goodness, no. Your strength has already been restored the moment you drunk the tea. I'm talking about therapy. With everything that went on during the internship, I believe that you have a lot of problems to unpack."
