Chapter 27 - One Year Later Home Visit

Chloe's P.O.V
Its been a year since I moved to America and things are going great. I've danced in a broadway show which has been my dream. I have visited home a lot and got to see my friends and family and yes I've seen Jay and yes I do still love him but I've moved on.
Thomas and I started dating about 6 months after I moved to America, he treats me so good and he's never hurt me, but I can't shake this feeling that something's missing.

I'm back in Ireland for awhile and right now I'm walking around the town with Rebecca just catching up when we seen Jay,
"Let's walk the other way" Rebecca said trying to turn me around
"No, I can't just run away everytime I see him" I shook my head and kept walking.

When we walked passed him I could feel his eyes burning into the side of my head and I glanced at him and I swear I could feel my heart break again as we made eye contact. I didn't stop, I didn't smile politely, I didn't wave, I just kept walking and it killed me. Once we were far enough away rebecca spoke,
"That must've killed him" she sighed
"What do you mean?" I asked confused
"Oh eh nothing" she shook her head her eyes going wide "just forget about it"
"Okay?" I said.

After awhile I was just chilling in my house with Rebecca and Barry and we were just talking about random things when jay got brought into conversation,
"I seen him today" I looked down
"Did you talk?" Barry asked looking sad
"No, we made eye contact but that was it" I shook my head
"Must've killed him" he leaned back
"What? Why does everyone keep saying that? He broke up with me! He cheated on me!" I ranted
"We need to tell her Becca" Barry looked at Rebecca
"We can't Jay would kill us!" Rebecca rolled her eyes
"Tell me what?" I asked looking between them
"Nothing it doesn't matter" Rebecca answered
"Clearly it's something! You're my best friends you should tell me" I sighed
"Jay never cheated" Barry answered finally
"Barry!" Rebecca slapped his shoulder
"What? What do you mean he never cheated? I seen him with Amy on his lap! He basically said he cheated!" I was confused
"He set it up, he never actually cheated" Barry shook his head
"What you mean 'he set it up'?" I looked between them
"Jay was worried about you throwing away the opportunity to study at Juliard so that you could stay with him, he knew there was no way to convince you to go, so he made this plan, i was to bring you to the cinema and you were supposed to catch him and Amy and then he said all those things to make you hate him" Rebecca explained
"Oh my god" I paused "ye knew about this and ye never told me?!" I asked raising my voice
"Jay wouldn't let us!" Rebecca sighed
"I can't believe this, I have to talk to him" I shook my head standing up
"Wait Chloe" Barry stood up trying to stop me
"No Barry I have to talk to him" I said before turning and walking out the door.

I arrived at Jays house and I noticed both his parents cars were gone and I was relieved, I didn't want to talk about this in front of them. I walked up and knocked on the door and waited, the door opened and Jays eyes widened
"Chloe, what are you doing here?" He asked
"I need to talk to you" I said before walking into the house past him "how could you!" I said turning on my heels to face him
"How could i what?" He sighed
"Pretend to cheat on me so I would go to America!"
"H-how did you-" I cut him off
"Barry" I looked down
"Fuck sake" he rolled his eyes
"You shouldn't have done that!" I walked closer to him
"You were going to throw away your dream just to stay here and be with me!" He argued
"Because I loved you!" I yelled raising my arms slightly
"I know you did, and I loved you, but staying here would have been a mistake" he sighed
"That wasn't your choice to make, it was mine! I decide where I go and what I do and who I spend my time with! I wanted to spend my life with you the way you promised me we would!" I pointed at him
"I couldn't let you do that!" He walked closer to me
"Like I said, it wasn't your choice to make" I sighed
"I don't care! I loved you too much to let you do that!" He looked down
"Do you regret it?" I asked looking into his eyes
"Every fucking day" he stared into mine "You were the best thing that happened to me, I didn't want to let you go, but I had to do it"
"And what about now?" I asked
"What do you mean?" He looked at me confused
"Do you still love me?"
The question made him pause, he just stared into my eyes like he was searching for an answer,
"Just forget I asked" I sighed starting to walk past him but he grabbed my arm
"Of course I still love you" he looked between my eyes and my lips "but" he sighed "you have a boyfriend and you live in America and there's nothing I can do about it now" he looked down
"I don't love him" I spoke up making his eyes shoot straight to mine
"Why not?" He asked
"Because he's not you" I stared into his eyes as tears started to brim mine,
Within a second he pulled me in a kissed me with so much passion and I got that feeling, like that part of me i was missing, that part of me I couldn't find in Thomas, it came back and I didn't wanna lose it again.
Jay drove me home and kissed me goodbye and I walked into the house with the biggest smile on my face as I rested against the door but the moment was cut short when Rebecca and Barry came running up to me,
"What happened?!"
"Did you really go to see him?!"
"What did he say?!"
"Was there a big fight?!"
These questions were practically yelled at me until a notification went off on Barry's phone, he took it out and looked at it,
"It's Jay" he looked at Rebecca
"what did he say?" She asked looking at his phone
"He said thanks mate" Barry answered confused
"Okay, what happened?" Rebecca looked at me
"We kissed" I smiled
"What?!" Both her and Barry yelled
"We fought he explained everything I told him it wasn't his choice, he told me he regrets it, we told each other we still love each other, he asked about Thomas and I admitted that I don't love him" I said everything in the shorter version
"Oh my god" Rebecca whispered "I wish I was there to see that! It sounds like a scene out of a romance movie" she laughed
"So what now? Are ye together? What about Thomas? What about America?" Barry fired all these questions at me
"I rang Thomas on the way back and he's upset but we worked things out and I'm coming back home" I answered
"But what about Juliard?" Rebecca asked confused
"I love studying there but the thing is, this is my home and I belong here" I shrugged
"So you're moving back?" Rebecca asked excitedly
"I've already rang Juliard and Polly, I'm officially moving back home" I smiled before she jumped to hug me
"Are you going to be attending the school again?" Barry asked
"Yeah, they said if I wasn't happy in America that they would always have a place for me so I'm going to ring in the morning" I nodded
"I HAVE MY BEST FRIEND BACK!!" Rebecca yelled laughing.
