Chapter 4 - Dinner?

Chloe's P.O.V
Over the past 2 weeks Jay and I have been rehearsing every day except the weekend, we've managed to be civil for most of that time but it's hard to stay that way all of the time so yes, we still argue. Rebecca thinks that there is a 'connection' between Jay and I but I think she's crazy, she says that you can see it when we dance and sing together but I just say its the emotion we take from the song, not feelinga for each other but she won't listen. Jay's best friend Barry has been around a lot and Rebecca likes him A LOT, whenever they're in the same room she tells me how hot he is and blah blah blah but she's never made a move. Jay and I had a hard time choosing a song to sing for the showcase but we felt that it should be related to the song we're dancing to so we settled on We Don't Talk Anymore but we added in the chorus from Perfect Strangers at the end to change it up a bit.
Now over the past 2 weeks Jay has said a lit of stuff but nothing shocked me more than what he said to me when he walked into the dance hall at the end of the day,
"Come to dinner?" He asked randomly while I almost choked on my water
"What?!" I coughed
"No! Not like that!" He shook his head "my parents want to meet the girl that I'm preforming with in the showcase and my since my brother is home they're having a family dinner and they told me to invite you" he explained
"You're parents want me to come to a family dinner?" I asked
"Yeah" he shrugged "so will you?" He looked at me
"Well, when is it?" I thought
"Tonight, I know it's last minute but my parents only asked me this morning"  he explained
"I'll have to text my mum and see, she's not working tonight but she might want me home" I told him before taking out my phone to ring my mum

-Hi pet
-Hey mum, Jay's parents have invited me over for dinner tonight because they want to meet me, I said I'd check with you first
-You can go to dinner, just make sure you come home to shower and change first ok?
-Okay I will, thanks mum, love you
-Love you

I hung up and looked at Jay,
"I can go over for dinner but I have to go home first to shower and change, obviously" I laughed slightly
"Yeah that's sound, I'll let my parents know and I'll drive you home after rehearsals and wait for you to shower and change and I can drive you to mine then" he stated
"Are you sure? I could just get Cameron to-" he cut me off
"Yes I'm sure, it makes more sense anyways" he nodded
"Okay, thank you" I smiled.
After that we got rehearsing and the time flew by and before we knew it we were packing up our stuff. I was nervous about going to Jays house and meeting his family, he doesn't like me because of where I'm from what if his family feel the same way? I need to stop being so anxious. We walked to Jays car and the car ride was silent, when we reached my house I started to get out of the car when I noticed he wasn't moving to get out,
"Are you glued to the seat or something?" I laughed
"No, why?" He looked at me confused
"I think my mum would like to meet the guy whose house I'm going to for dinner" I explained
"Oh okay" he nodded and got out of the car.
We walked up to my house and I just walked right in with him following
"MUM I'M HOME" I called out
"IN THE KITCHEN" she yelled back

Jay's P.O.V
I walked behind Chloe into the kitchen and seen a young woman sitting at the table,
"Hi mum" Chloe hugged the woman
"Hi darling" the woman, who I now understand is Chloe's mum, smiled "and who'd this" she looked at me
"I'm Jay, I'm preforming with Chloe in the showcase" I smiled and stuck my hand out to shake hers
"Nice to meet you Jay, I'm Tina" she shook my hand
"CHLOE" a little boy yelled running in and tackling Chloe in a hug
"Hey Danny!" She smiled hugging him back
"Who's the boy" he looked at me
"Danny, this is Jay, I'm preforming with him in my schools showcase, Jay this is Daniel, my brother" she explained to both of us
"Hey buddy" I smiled at him
"Hi, are you Chloe's new boyfriend? What happened to Cameron?" He asked and Chloe's eyes went wide, as did mine
"No he's not my boyfriend Danny, I'm still Camerons girlfriend" she stared at him
"Oh, okay" he nodded
"Well I better go for my shower and get changed, I won't be long" Chloe said before walking off down the hall
"So Jay, do you have any brothers or sisters?" Tina asked
"I do, I have and older brother who is 20 and a younger sister who is 6" I told her
"Oh that's lovely, Chloe always wanted a younger sister" she laughed
"I've always wanted a cool older brother but instead I got Chloe and she can be annoying" Daniel sighed
"I HEARD THAT" Chloe yelled from down the hall and I laughed
"I've always wanted a little brother, I mean I love my little sister but I get forced to play barbie dolls" I explained laughing
"Ew I hate barbie dolls" Daniel made a disgusted face
"So do I" I made the same face back at him and he laughed
"Do you play music?" He asked curiously
"Yeah, my favourite instrument that I play the most is the guitar though" I explained
"I love guitars, I don't know how to play though" he frowned
"I have my guitar in my car, I could get it and teach you something if you'd like" I offered and instantly a huge smile grew on his face
"Really?!" He asked excitedly
"Yeah sure" I laughed as I went to get my guitar.
I sat with Daniel and taught him how to play a few chords together, he was really good I'm suprised he never got lessons or his own guitar. After a little while he had to eat his dinner and I talked with Tina
"He looked so happy" she smiled
"Yeah, he was really good, you should really think about getting him a guitar of his own and some lessons" I recommended but she looked down sadly
"I would love to, but we don't have the money for it but maybe someday" she shrugged.
I felt a small part of sadness in my chest when she said this, but it quickly vanished when Chloe came into view.
