Day 21

Vanessa runs in our room dancing like a crazy woman, her large tummy wiggling around.
" go away mum, it's 9am," groans paige.
" wake up! Wake up! We're going horse riding" chirps Vanessa twirling around with yina.
Catalina pops out of bed and starts smiling. She loves horse riding.
" we're going to hocking hills! We are leaving in one hour" screams Vanessa leaving the room.
" get up! Get up! I love hocking hills! My family owns a horse stall up there and my childhood pony 'star' stays there," Catalina exclaims jumping up and down, and pulling blankets away from paige and I. We eventually get up and start to get changed. Paige and I wear shorts but Catalina informs us matter-of-factly,
" you must wear long pants when horse riding. The horse hair sticks and it's very prickly." Paige and I roll our eyes as Catalina zips up her denim skinny jeans and checks herself out in the mirror.
" I'm so fat" she complains squeezing her tummy which is exposed because of her white crop top with a heart on it. Yah right! Says the girl who weighs the same as an ant! I wear my black leggings and white tunic with the words,
"J'adore moi"
So true!
Paige is wearing black Jeggings and a black tank top with black hiking boots. Real Libby style! Well,old Libby! Catalina is putting on her red, leather, 4 inch heel, jimmy choo boots and I am shoving on my sketcher trainers when Vanessa slides into the room a mischievous grin spread across her face.
" paige dear, you have a guest" tweets Vanessa.
" who?" Asks paige annoyed.
" come see for yourself" says Vanessa in a dramatic voice pretending to pull out a air sword and running away.
Paige goes and after 10 seconds we hear a loud scream,
" oh my god!"
Catalina and I lock eyes and then get up and run to the door. No way! Bryan is standing at the door in those Scottish kilt skirts with a white blouse tucked in, black jacket, striped tie, high knee socks, black tap dancing sandals, and a sporran which is a type of man, shoulder, Scottish bag. He is playing the bagpipes which he doesn't know how to play so is blowing and pulling and it is hilarious! We all laugh-even Vanessa! This is too funny! He pulls out a rose and is about to hand it to paige when he diverts and hands it to Vanessa. She is in shock! Bryan pulls the bagpipe out of his mouth and says while breathing very heavily,
" Madame Vanessa! You look stunning," starts Bryan. Really!? She looks stunning in black track pants and a large turquoise tunic covering her large belly.
Bryan continues,
" but, I have eyes for only one, and that is your daughter. I would like to shower your daughter with love and affection but in order for me to do that, I must ask you a very important question. May I have your blessing in asking paige to be my girlfriend?"
We all gasp and Vanessa breaks into tears.
" oh, yes! Yes, son! You have my blessing," squeals Vanessa who is in tears and she hugs Bryan. Poor Bryan! He must be so squished!
" Ricky! Darling, get out here!" Screams Vanessa so loud that all the other residents of the apartment can hear. Ricky is Paige's dad,BTW! Ricky comes walking in wearing a ketchup stained mustard shirt and black boxers. He clearly looks annoyed and complains,
" what? What is it? Did you set the house on fire yet? Hmmmm. What's so important you got to wake me up at 9:30 am."
" oh shut up and look" instructs Vanessa.
Ricky pulls his head out of his shirt where he was sniffing his chest and sees all of us standing and Bryan.
" who are you? Huh! Answer me boy! Who are you?" Inquires Ricky scratching his neck.
" this is Paige's new boy friend......oops, I never caught your name" says Vanessa starting off the sentence excited and then embarrassed.
" Bryan is the name and Madame Vanessa just gave me her blessing to date your daughter paige" explains Bryan nervously.
" it's Vanessa, no Madame,"'comments Vanessa, and Bryan nods.
Ricky's expression is changing from curious to confused and back to curious.
" so, you play the bagpipe?" Asks Ricky scratching his stubbly chin.
" yes sir" says Bryan starting to play the bagpipes. We are all about to start giggling but Bryan sounds good. I think he is playing an actual song? Once he finished Ricky breaks into a smile, pats Bryan on the back, and says,
" 'river on the moon!' My favorite! Good job son! I give you my blessing to be with paige!"
" thank you sir Ricky, and Madame Vanessa- I mean Vanessa, no Madame" Bryan says nervously, choking on his words.
Vanessa starts jumping up and down and clapping her hands.
" ooooh, I got a great idea. Why don't you come horse riding with us? We're going to hocking hills! Unless, you have plans, but a boy should always sacrifice for his girl," exclaims Vanessa.
" I'd love too, and I have no plans, but I also have no clothes..." He stutters, referring to his outfit.
Vanessa says," oh don't worry about that! Ricky will lend you some, and Ricky's a small guy so you guys will manage, and he's like your father-in-law!" Woah! Slow down there horsey!
Paige, Catalina and I laugh as Bryan says sheepishly,
"Ok."
" I'll come too! Just to make sure Bryan is treating my paige with the respect she ought to be treated with," says Ricky manly. Wait! Did Paige's dad actually say he is going with them and watch over paige! Double woah!
" come now, Ricky, girls! Let's let Bryan and paige have some alone time. Besides we need to find some clothes for Bryan" squeals Vanessa dragging Ricky to the bedroom. Bryan wraps her arms around paige and they look into each other's eyes. Catalina and I are about to walk away when Paige says distractedly,
" you guys can stay."
" yah" mumbles Bryan so lost in his and Paige's own world.
Catalina and I shrug at each other and stand a few feet away from them just to give them space.
" I've missed you" whispers Bryan playing with Paige's loose strand of hair .
" I've missed you too" Paige whispers.
They pull in closer and indulge in a deep, meaningful kiss. Well, it looks like one. The thing is, they are so lost in their own world and they look so happy and in love, it makes me wonder if that's how I should feel with Berun?
" they love each other" comments Catalina sighing.
" yes, they do, they really do" I comment breaking away from my internal thoughts. With that, we slip away and back into Paige's room. After 30 minutes Vanessa calls everyone into the living room because we are leaving. Bryan looks hysterical in 3 sizes too big and too long faded red cargo pants and an oversize red shirt with a stain that looks like oil. Jeez, does Ricky not have one stainless shirt? Ricky is wearing the same too but with baggy jeans which he is sagging.
" alright guys! I have water and snacks for the 2 hour and 45 minutes ride. Everyone use the washrooms and bring anything else you need. We meet in the car in 10 minutes. Go!" Vanessa screams even though we are only 5 people who are in range of whispering. We all start hustling and hustling but eventually make it to the car. Oh! I just notice yina in a tie dye purple peace shirt with corduroy shorts but Vanessa informs me that she is too young to horse ride and a nanny is coming today art with her.Ricky drives with yina and Vanessa in the front seat and the rest of us squished in the back. Of course, Paige and Bryan don't mind being so close to each other!! For the whole car ride Ricky questions Bryan on his family, grades, hobbies and by the end of the car ride Bryan and Ricky have a fishing date tomorrow! We check in and Catalina tells the people about her stalls and after 1 hour of arguing and discussing we finally have horses to ride! Apparently, you have to book one week earlier to ride horses, and Only Minou, Catalina's mum, is able to view their private horses but once Catalina pulls out a $100 bill, we've got the lady wrapped around our finger. Paige Catalina Vanessa and I each get one of the three horses Catalina owns while Bryan gets one of the public horses and Ricky is scared of horse riding so he is just watching us. Bryan's horse is called bob and is plain grey and very,very old. Bob is even going bald. Bald bob! Our horses are beautifully groomed, and young, and adorable. Well compared to bob they are. We go on a 2 hour trail in the forest with 3 bottles of water - each! Who knew it would be so sunny?! Throughout the whole 2 hour ride bob probably stopped to pee 6 times and poo 4 times. Once, Bryan's right ankle got sprayed in horse pee and he said grumpily,
"Remind me why I'm doing this again."
Paige smiled and said coaxingly,
" because you love me" and they kissed, which was quite hard since they were on separate horses. Once we get back to the ranch it's 4pm and we haven't eaten lunch yet! We have some delicious corn on the cob and beef pie before heading home. We are all exhausted and fall asleep in the car except Paige, Bryan and Ricky. Well, Ricky is half asleep and his eyes are only half open but the rest of his body is dead. I hear paige and Bryan whispering to each other and then some kissing sounds and more whispering and more kissing. We drop Bryan home and then head home, well to Paige's apartment. We shuffle up the stairs because the elevator in the apartment is broken and we are all tired and grumpy except Vanessa who seems to have gotten a lot of energy since the car ride and walking up the stairs. She is shaking her hips against paige and dancing as she sings,
" my girl is growing up! My girl has got a boyfriend!"
We reach Paige's apartment at 8:00 and order pizza from 'joes pizzeria.'
We all lounge around the house so tired and confused and not knowing where we are while eating pizza. Eventually Paige, Catalina and I end up in Paige's room, all 3 of us fall asleep on the bed. Can't wait to see which one of us has a broken neck first?
