Secrets are not a new thing. They were never a new thing. And everybody has secrets. The most innocent, sweetest person in the world has a secret. As you can see, it is nothing new.
But most secrets are kept locked away in a drawer or in a car or in the heart. Some secrets are left out in the open or spread like a disease. One would have to be careful of their secrets, especially in places such as Heaven and Hell.
There were two main secrets in both Heaven and Hell, and they go as follows:
1: They have no clue how Crowley and Aziraphel survived their executions.
2: Their second-in-commands were so in love it hurt to watch.
Now, you may be wondering why it would be well known that they were in love if it was a secret. Well, to put it simply, it was a secret everybody knew, except for them.
It was small things first; The way Gabriel went to their level, the way Beelzebub treated him slightly different. Then it went a bit further; Gabriel consulting with them or Beelzebub making decisions for the both of them. Even then, it continued; Gabriel teasing them about their height only to have Beelzebub drag him down by the scarf. You see, it wasn't much of a secret.
Beelzebub's feelings for Gabriel were no secret to themself. In fact, they were the first to develop a crush. You may think that sounds silly and childish, but that is what Beelzebub calls it. A crush, a little schoolchild crush. They had first noticed it once when Gabriel's voice dropped in timber and it stirred up their stomach. Or maybe they noticed it when they caught themselves subconsciously glancing down at his lap during meetings. Or, better yet, perhaps they noticed it when they woke in the night to the sound of their own pleasure, his name being the only prayer that ever fell through their lips.
So, the little secret was not a secret to Beelzebub. Just to Gabriel.
Gabriel's feelings for Beelzebub were no secret to himself. He was the first to fall in love. And that was what it was, love. Or at least that's what he calls it. He first noticed the feeling when they spoke his first name during a meeting, and he quite likes the sound. Or maybe he noticed it when he saw them shiver just the slightest bit once and he wanted to wrap his arm around them. Or, better yet, he noticed it when he caught himself watching their mouth moving and wanting so badly to lean across the table and kiss them.
So, the little secret was not a secret to Gabriel. Just Beelzebub.
They obviously were not the first demon and angel to fall in love. Crowley and Aziraphel are living representations of that. And even though Heaven and Hell permitted the two of them to be together, somewhat begrudgingly, they would never allow Beelzebub and Gabriel to be together. And the two knew this.
And so Beelzebub spent their days standing beside Lucifer and working towards the end of times, and their nights laying in bed dreaming of Gabriel.
And so Gabriel spent his days bringing good to the world, and his nights longing to hold the demon in his arms and to his chest.
But that can't happen. And so their secrets are best left forgotten.
For now.
