The two walked side by side through the dark. They weren't a couple, but they certainly were more than friends. The sun was nearly set now and the cool breeze blew back black hair behind them. The first start twinkled into view.
"The sun is nearly gone." Gabriel murmured, and his companion looked up at him as he stopped next to a railing that overlooked an ocean. The wind continued to blow softly. The city lights behind them slowly flickered on and reflected on the water. "The lights are turning on. A silver shine that stretches to the sea."
Beelzebub looked down at the water and Gabriel admired the way the lights made their hair look so soft and silky.
"We've stumbled on a view that's tailor made for two." He murmured softly, blushing softly. When they looked up at him, he quickly amended, "What a shame those two are you and me."
Beelzebub smiled softly and the two continued to walk along the railing, looking out at the water. The sky looked beautiful reflected in their eyes.
"Some other girl or guy, would love this swirling sky." He continued speaking. They looked up. "But it's only you and I. And we've got no shot."
Beelzebub smiled softly and moved to take his hand. He gently pulled it back, but not far.
"This could never be. Your not the type for me." He whispered softly.
"Really?" They giggled. He blushed.
"There's not a spark in site." He smiled, brushing their hair behind their ear."What a waste of a lovely night." Beelzebub smiled softly.
"You say there's nothing here?" They gestured out and between the two of them. "Well let's make something clear. I'll be the one to make that call."
"But you'll call?" He raised an eyebrow.
"And though you look so cute, in your polyester suit-"
"It's wool."
"You're right," They blushed. "I'd never fall for you at all."
Beelzebub stopped and looked out at the water again before turning to look at him.
"And maybe this appeals to someone not in heels." They sighed. "Or to any girl who feels there's some chance for romance, but I'm frankly feeling nothing."
"Is that so?" Gabriel chuckled softly.
"Or it could be less than nothing." Beelzebub stepped forward towards him.
"Good to know. So you agree?" Gabriel murmured to them, gently taking their hand.
"That's right." They smiled and laid their head on his chest.
"Oh what a waste of a lovely night."
