Danny's POV

Two days later...

I stand in front of my bedroom mirror and sigh, while fixing the collar of my red polo shirt. Well, today, Afia is coming over because our parents want us to meet and rekindle our relationship again before the marriage. Their words, not mine. There was no spark in the first place for us to have to rekindle anything. It's not that she's not a pretty girl or that I don't like her, but I don't want to be forced to fall in love with her, especially since I don't have feelings for her at all.

A knock sounds on my door as I set my bed with pillows. I announce for the person to come in, and Esther comes in, leaving the door open behind her. I smile at her and she bows her head.

"Good afternoon, your Highness. The King and Queen sent me to tell you that the Nelson family is here waiting for your presence."

I straighten my shirt and give her a tight smile.

"Thank you Esther, I'll be right there. And you know, you can just call me Danny, right? I mean, you've known me for a long time now."

Esther has been my appointed, personal maid since I was five. She was sixteen when she first started working for us, and she's honestly a really hard-working, kind person. Whenever my parents would go on trips and leave me alone at home, she and I would just have fun and watch lots of movies, and that is why I get annoyed when my parents mistreat her. She doesn't deserve any of their disrespect when she's cared for me since I was a child.

She nods with a smile.

"I know, but it is important that I honor you for who you are. I'll be leaving now, your Highness." she remarks, before bowing again and leaving the room. I roll my eyes at her stubborn nature and I turn off the light in my room, before leaving the room and going downstairs.

As I step onto the verandah, I see a man, a woman, and a girl with their backs towards me. I realize it is the Nelson family and I approach them with a small smile plastered on my face.

"Ah, there he is. Come here, son. The Nelsons want to see you." my father says, with a smile on his face, something that I only see when things are going his way.

Afia and her parents turn in their seats to have a look at me and their faces immediately cloud with surprise and joy.

"Oh wow! Is that Danny Forson?" her mother exclaims with her eyebrows raised.

I give her a smile as I walk over to them, and she engulfs me in a hug.

"Good afternoon, ma." I greet and she turns back to her husband in shock.

"Honey, look at our son-in-law. Look how he's grown." she says, causing me to cringe. It's still ridiculous that they all want us to be married.

Afia's father walks over to me as Afia flips her hair with a smile on her face.

"Yes, he has grown into such a fine young man. Hello Danny, how are you?" he greets me, pulling me into a huge hug. He pats me on my back and I give him a nod.

"Good afternoon sir. I'm fine, thank you."

"Danny, haven't you seen your beautiful bride-to-be? She's very excited to speak to you." my mom questions me and I internally roll my eyes.

Afia stands and walks over to me, standing right in front of me. The height difference is really noticeable, as she has to look up to make eye contact with me. She looks the same as she did when we were younger, with her feline eyes that look like they are gaping into your soul, and her thin, pink lips. Her eyelids are coated in blue eyeshadow and her eyebrows are perfectly arched. She holds her hand out and gives me her signature, sweet smile.
