Nsroma Kingdom was effervescent, with all the preparations and activities being done for the royal wedding, which was happening in only three days. One could not walk down a street without seeing posters of the soon-to-be-married couple, people throwing rose petals along the sidewalks, or hearing royal announcers proclaim the good news. There was no doubt that everyone was anticipating the event and for good reason— who wouldn't be excited at the opportunity to witness such a display of wealth and regality in person?
Back in Menpemehoasem village, the people there were also jubilating at the upcoming occasion. As the entire village had been invited, the villagers were scrambling to find the perfect attire, some even having to borrow from their neighbors. They knew that coming underdressed could mean getting booted from the wedding, and nobody wanted that to happen.
At Nana Sarpong's residence, the middle-aged woman was shifting through her closet, trying to find the best dress for the affair. Not only did she love attending occasions like these, but she also enjoyed that it was an occasion that would vindicate everything she said about the prince and her niece— that it was all fake.
As she surfed through her wardrobe, a knock sounded on the main door. The woman hums in confusion, before closing the wardrobe door and making her way out of the bedroom. She wasn't expecting anyone today, but a little part of her was oozing with excitement at the thought that maybe Peter could be paying her a surprise visit. She picks up her pace as she nears the door, patting down the flyaways of her wig and straightening her blouse.
Nana opens the door and to her disappointment, she comes face-to-face with Afia Nelson. The corners of her lips fall into a frown as she stares at the petite girl in front of her. They had not seen each other in about a month, and Nana didn't understand why she would pop up unannounced, especially after their mission had already been accomplished.
"What are you doing here?" Nana asks the younger girl.
The young girl had her natural hair in a sleek, low ponytail. It was rare for her hair to be in its natural state, but as the wedding was approaching, she would be getting a wig installed soon.
Afia sweetly smiles. "Well hello to you too. It's been a while, hasn't it?"
Nana scans her surroundings to make sure nobody is around, before she steps outside onto the veranda and closes the door behind her. She gestures for Afia to sit on the bench on the veranda, to which the young girl obliges. Nana raises a brow, not sure why the girl seemed so chipper today.
Nana sits next to Afia and pivots in her spot to listen to whatever she has to say.
"Afia, what do you want, and why are you in such a good mood?"
Afia smiles, hitting Nana's knee playfully.
"Oh, haven't you missed me? You know we work so well together."
Nana side-eyes her, not knowing how to answer her. Yes, they accomplished their mission together but it's not like they are friends. There was definitely a different reason for Afia's mood.
"I was looking for a nice outfit for your special day, so please, let's make this quick."
"Make sure you look fantastic, so you don't get kicked out. You deserve to see the rewards of our hard work." Afia retorts, a grin on her face.
"What other rewards? We already got that girl sentenced to life." Nana questions.
Afia stretches her neck to peek around the corner of the little house, making sure nobody is eavesdropping. Once she sees that the coast is clear, she turns back to Nana and grabs her hand gently.
