1 week later
It's been a week since I met the prince. I told Gifty and she was so happy that I got to meet him but sad that she's never met him. I told her about why I was crying and she was so angry at my aunt for saying that to me. She couldn't even stop ranting for an hour.
"Herrh, Maadwoa. Go be useful and fetch water from the well." my aunt exclaims to me from the verandah.
She hasn't apologized for what she said and I don't expect her to but it would be nice if she did.
I sigh and leave my room to go to the verandah. She sees me and rolls her eyes. I sigh and walk to the well.
When I get to the well, I put the bucket in and start to push the water in. After the bucket is full, I pull it up. As I am about to put the bucket on my head, I see three tall figures approaching the well. As they get closer, I notice it is Prince Danny and his bodyguards. I almost drop my bucket of water. What are they doing here again?
I immediately bow to him when he reaches me.
"Good afternoon Prince." I greet with a nervous smile.
"Good afternoon Maadwoa. I was even coming to visit you." he tells me with a smile.
"Me? Have I done something wrong?" I ask nervously.
He shakes his head quickly.
"No, no. I just wanted to talk to you. Let's chat at your place." He offers and I widen my eyes.
I don't want him to meet my aunt, who knows what she'll do to him?
But I can't help but accept.
"Okay. Follow me, please." I say.
"I'll carry the bucket." he says, grabbing it from me.
"No, I--" I start but he cuts me off and grabs the bucket to hold for himself. I don't want to argue with the prince over a bucket so I allow him to carry it.
"Thank you." I politely say and he smiles.
I get in front of him to lead the way back to my house. We walk in silence with his bodyguards following behind us.
When we get to my house, I make sure to quickly walk ahead of the prince to warn my aunt. She sees me and widens her eyes.
"Herrh, where is the bucket, lazy --" she starts but quickly stops and gasps.
I turn around to see that they have caught up to me and I almost laugh at how quickly he caused her to stop talking. She quickly bows down to greet him but he stops her and puts the bucket down.
"Oh ma, please don't. Good afternoon."
She bows down anyway and smiles at him. Wow, an actual smile on her face. Never have I seen her become so submissive to anyone. What a shock.
"Good afternoon, handsome Prince. Eii, I'm so surprised that you are actually here. Maadwoa will bring you a seat, should she bring you something to drink as well?." she asks and he smiles.
"No thank you."
"I'll bring you a seat then." I say, before quickly running inside to grab a small stool. I bring it outside and wipe it before I place it down.
He thanks me and sits on it. My aunt sits on the other stool in front of him, leaving me with nothing to sit on. I stand behind her so that I am facing Danny.
"So to what do I owe this honorable visit?" my aunt asks with a big smile on her face.
I stand with my hands behind my back nervously as I see his two bodyguards stand behind him with no smile. Tough.
