Maadwoa
"Danny, did you really do all this yourself?" I question incredulously, as he leads me towards the wide, baby blue blanket.

It was after sundown, so the sky was dark but still visible. The light of the moon reflected on the body of water, which brightened up the night. He had beautifully decorated our spot by the waterbank. Rose petals scattered intentionally around the ground, fairy lights beaming pink and yellow light, and quiet, romantic music sounding from a radio he propped against a tree near us.

"Yes, I just wanted to do something special for you." he says with a smirk, guiding me to sit comfortably on the blanket he set out on the ground. There was a small picnic basket on the corner of the blanket, and I didn't know what was in it yet but I could already smell the sweet aroma of strawberries. He sits next to me, putting his hand on the small of my back.

"And sorry about the petals. I know you don't like roses because you think they're cliché, but I thought they would set the mood."

I smile sweetly up at him. "Don't apologize, thank you for doing this for me. It's beautiful."

"You're beautiful."

"Danny, don't be a rose."

"Oh you got jokes?" he chuckles, causing me to giggle.

"What's in the basket, Romeo?"

"Did you just call me Romeo?"

"Maybe. Does it bother you?"

"Yeah, that's insulting. Romeo was dumb, do you think I'm dumb?"

"I mean..."

"Don't even answer that, Maadwoa." he deadpans.

I burst out in a giggle while he pretends to glare at me.

"I will take my food back." he states, trying to grab the basket.

I gasped, quickly grabbing onto his arm as a serious look falls on my face. "No! Don't you dare touch my food!"

He looks down at me with a smug smirk. "I brought it, so really it's mine. I'll take it back if I want to."

I scrunch my brows in annoyance and send him a glare. "Okay then, take the food. But if you do, I hope you know that you will step on a Lego and stump your pinkie toe on a wall."

He snorts and laughs aloud after my statement, causing me to let go of his arm and cross my arms against my chest. His laugh was almost melodious but I couldn't give in easily, so I looked away and feigned frustration.

He finally stops laughing, but I could still hear small chuckles emitting from his mouth. Danny leans over to grab the basket and sits in front of us. He removes the lid and scans the food in there. I wanted so bad to stretch my neck and see what was in there, but I had to stand my ground and ride on this fake anger wave.

Danny starts making noises to get my attention.

"Look at those bright red strawberries, they're probably so sweet. And those juicy cheeseburgers that I know are seasoned to perfection. Oh and just look at those crispy French fries. I can't wait to devour these by myself."

I unintentionally scoff and stop myself from asking for the food. He shoots his head over to me and from the corner of my eye, I could see him raise his brow.

"Oh, did you want to say something?"

I clench my jaw to keep quiet. He then scoots closer to me and I feel his hand caress my lower back.
