One Week later...
"What about this one?" Afia asks, pointing to the sparkly, green cloth with her brows raised.
"It's nice." the prince says dryly as he stuffs his hands in his pockets.
Afia narrows her eyes at him. "You said that to the other three cloths."
He shrugs. "Okay?"
She huffs in annoyance, before turning back to examine the other designs. Danny rolls his eyes and looks out the window of the elegant boutique.
The King and Queen suggested (forced) that Danny and his bride-to-be visit their private, fancy boutique and look through some possible cloths they would like to use to sew their wedding attire. After, they had to report to the back of the boutique, where the seamstress was going to take their measurements. Afia was obviously excited and thought this was some shopping spree, but Danny was extremely bored and unenthused about the idea. He frankly didn't care what cloth they chose; he didn't even care how he would look on that dreaded day. He could wear garbage bags and be fine with it.
Afia was acting as if nothing happened and that peeved him. He didn't want to be anywhere near her right now but of course, he has no say in his own life. She was still smiling and talking to him as if they really are lovers, but he's barely said more than a few words to her since their 'wonderful ' trip to the village.
Afia knew she was annoying Danny and she was aware that he would rather throw himself down a flight of stairs than be here with her. But it didn't bother her - for now. She actually understands why he's upset with her; he thinks that she ruined his life by separating him from his so-called lover. But now that Maadwoa's out of his life, Afia has hope that he'll come to his senses and focus on the important things in life: her. She is certain that some time away from Maadwoa will make him forget all about her. That way, he will soon fall in love with Afia.
After another fifteen minutes of grueling and painful cloth searching, Afia for tired of Danny's dry responses and just chose four possible cloths. Danny didn't even see the ones she chose and he didn't care.
They had transitioned to getting measured and Afia went first. Danny and the guards sit outside the seamstress' room, awkwardly glancing at each other each time they hear Afia snap at the woman for touching her breast. Danny rolled his eyes when he heard Afia telling the seamstress about how much he loves her, especially because of her cooking. Danny recalls the rice hexagons and shudders. He should've called the police on her that day for attempted murder.
Danny's phone rings, breaking him out of his depressing thoughts. He looks down at it to see Maadwoa's caller ID. He gasps, almost falling out of the seat. Finally, he thought. Even if she was calling to insult him, he just wanted to hear her voice and explain his feelings for her. He looks up at the guards.
"Let me take this call." he informs them before running off to another corner of the store.
He quickly answers the call.
"Hello! Maadwoa! Oh my goodness, I really --"
"If you can, please meet me at the village. Only if you can. Wouldn't want Afia bothering me again.'
"Hey -"
" Will you meet me or not? "
He nods assertively. He'd do anything to see her again."Yes. But--"
"Good. I'm at Gifty's now. I'll text you the address."
"Alri--"
She hangs up. He noticed how emotionless and abrupt she was, and that hurt him. She was never that cold. But he shrugged it off because he was excited to see her. Perhaps she wants to give him a chance to explain everything and he was not a fool to waste this opportunity. There was hope for him.
