*Unedited* (Do you guys break your wrists in your sleep as well? Asking for a friend. 🙂)
Maadwoa sits up slouched in the couch between her friends, with a rag full of ice pressed against her nose and mouth. Gifty had carefully lifted her leg and placed it on the small table in front of the couch, so that she could relax it. She had paused on the tears after telling her friends everything Kelvin said and was instead focused on mitigating the pain she was feeling and quelling the blood coming from her nose. She couldn't get her mind off what Kelvin said about Afia. Now you know how Afia felt. You hurt her. What was he talking about? When did she hurt Afia? The only time she even sees the girl is when she comes to threaten Maadwoa.
Perhaps Afia had told Kelvin about Danny. Maybe this is her revenge for continuing to mingle with Danny. This just brings her back to the question she had before: is her relationship with Danny worth all this pain and torture? First, the threats to stay away from Danny were verbal and although those were intimidating, she could tolerate it to some extent. But now, she has just got the beat-down of her lifetime and she's sure it would've been worse if her friends didn't save the day. She really likes Danny but ever since the beginning of their relationship, she has barely had peace.
"So, Afia is behind this." Tyler states with a cold look on his face when he mentions Afia's name.
"She's a she-devil and a coward. She had to send someone here to fight her battles. And a whole boy, for that matter. Look what he did to you!" Gifty states with a frown.
Maadwoa sighs, gently pressing the ice rag against her nose again.
"I apologise on behalf of my gender. He's a despicable person and if not for the fact that there was a Bible in our presence, I would have committed a sin." Tyler spits, shaking his head with such disgust.
Maadwoa lets out a small, strained laugh. Even in such a dire situation, her friends could still somewhat lighten the mood.
Gifty crosses her arms and grunts. "I blame Danny. Sorry not sorry."
Maadwoa shrugs, not knowing whether to agree or not. She was really feeling ambivalent about the whole relationship now.
"I mean, it's not like he knew about this." Maadwoa quietly says, trying to defend him and convince herself that he's not to blame.
"But Gifty is right. He assured you that he talked to her, so why is she still bothering you?" Tyler queries.
"The last time she said she wouldn't leave me alone until I stay away from Danny." Maadwoa informs them, her voice sounding nasally from the rag pressed on it.
"Regardless, he was aware of the fact that she was tormenting you and he didn't do enough to stop her. Now look where we are, what if we didn't hear your screams?" Gifty retorts.
Maadwoa lets out a sigh and remains quiet, knowing that Gifty was right. She really could have gotten seriously hurt and a big part of the reason for that was Danny not being able to talk to Afia and get her to listen. She gazes at the floor and her eyes focus on something black by the door. She squints and points at it.
"What is that over there?" she asks.
Gifty looks over and stands up to go see what it was. She bends down and scoffs at the black object, picking it up.
"It's that idiot's wallet." she answers, opening it up and looking through it. "What kind of I.D is this? It looks like a mugshot."
Maadwoa gasps. "That means he will come back when he realizes it's gone."
"Good. Because this time, we won't let him get away. He has to be punished."
"I agree." Tyler says with a nod.
