"So... are you ok, Virgil." Virgil laughed brokenly as he shook his head.

"Fuck no." Kai frowned as they sat there in the grass of the quad. Virgil still refused to put his phone down even if it was off. "I'm not ok."

"I promise..." Virgil smirked at the joke although slimly and Kai sighed. "Virgil..."

"I didn't mean to hurt him." Virgil cut Kai off as he stared off at nothing. "I didn't mean to hurt him. I just couldn't do it anymore. I was scared."

"Scared of what?" Virgil's eyes narrowed as Kai reached out to take his hands. "Scared of what, Virgil?"

"I didn't want to be like Damien." Kai's eyes went wide as Virgil laughed. "I know... I'm nothing like him. Or Ameilia but... Roman is just so... I didn't want to end up using him. Even if I didn't mean to... I mean look at the phone he got me." Virgil wiped the tears from his face as he shook. "And on top of that, I said such horrible things right to his face. He told me about Amelia and Damien and I... I just..."

"Virgil, I understand how you feel." Virgil's eyes met his as Kai sighed softly. "I've dealt with it so much with Roman... I understand." Virgil tensed instantly at the mention of his name. "Roman was terrified of hurting anyone. After what happened between him and his brother, he never wanted to think he hurt anyone again. When Damien and Ameilia were pulling that crap Roman cried to me ever day thinking he did something wrong... that he hurt them someway somehow. When he finally ended things that never stopped. He crashed at my house for so long because I was too afraid to leave him alone."

"What do you..." Virgil's eyes widened in fear as he jumped to his feet only to freeze. His fear over Roman and his fear of hurting Roman fought so much he was frozen and breaking at the seams. "He didn't..."

"No. No, but I've also never seen him this bad before Virgil. He's literally cried himself to sleep every night since you ended things." Virgil started to tear up again as he fell and Kai tensed seeing the pain in him. "I understand not wanting to hurt him. I understand your fear but, Virgil... It's because of you that Roman actually legitimately started smiling again. He smiled every time he got a text from you. It was like his whole face just lit up."

"P-Patton said the same a-about m-me." Virgil laughed as he hugged his knees. "I care about him, Kai. I care and I hurt him."

"Roman hurt you too." Virgil's eyes narrowed as Kai smiled softly. "And he had an attack over it."

"What?" Kai nodded as Virgil started at the ground.

"That's why he bought you the phone. It was my idea actually." Virgil frowned as Kai continued. "He was having a depressive episode over causing you to have an attack. I found him in the rain crying as he just stared at his phone thinking he had hurt you. I think... I think that was when he said he ignored your texts."

"But that was an accident caused by his anxiety. It wasn't like he meant to do that. It wasn't his faul..." Kai shot him this look making Virgil freeze up and sigh.

"Is that not what's happening here?" Virgil shook his head but he knew where Kai was going and how right he was about it. "Virgil, Roman told me what happened at the buffet. He was panicked thinking he had hurt you...er... Anx."

"Wait." Virgil's eyes narrowed as Kai frowned knowing he had fucked up. "Does Roman know about me?" Kai sighed making Virgil tense up in horror as he shook his head furiously. "No... No. NO! Roman wasn't supposed to know. He wasn't..."

"He doesn't care Virgil."

"I CARE!" Virgil yelled as he gripped his hair tightly. "I said such horrible things to him. I brought up painful pasts. I-I told him I hated him."

"No, you didn't."

"Yes, I did." Kai laughed as He took Virgil's hands to hopefull help ground him.

"No, you didn't. You said you don't do egotistical pricks and that you don't trust actors but you never once said you actually hated Roman." Virgil just sat there stunned as Kai smiled supportively at him. "I told you Roman doesn't care. He told me what you said and he was more concerned over sending you into another attack. What you said didn't even affect him as much as it would have."

"I don't understand."

"Usually the moment someone brings those to up Roman has an attack but with you, he said it hurt yes but... It hurt to think you thought that of him. He only cared about how you felt. It barely even fully registered that you had just brought them up." Virgil narrowed his eyes as he shook his head.

"He yelled at me..."

"Yes well... He needed you to know it wasn't him." Kai frowned as he scooted closer to the anxious and breaking man. "He needed you to not think so poorly of him. He actually started to cry thinking you thought he was that kind of man."

"I-I don't. Princey's kind and caring and..."

"At the time you didn't know Roman was Princey... did you?" Virgil shook his head as Kai pulled him in. "It's ok, Virgil."

"I hurt him."

"You're hurting him more by not being there." Kai hugged him firmly to help ground him more as Virgil started to sob. "He cares about you Virgil, but he's too afraid to tell you. He's scared if he reveals that he knows it's you that you'll disappear for good."

"I'm scared." Kai wrapped his arms around the man as Virgil buried himself further into him. "I'm scared."

"It's ok, Virgil. You can be scared." Kai just held on to him as he smiled off into the distance. "Being scared is human. It's about taking that fear and doing something to change things. Of your scared of hurting him... then just make sure you don't."

"I love him, Kai." Kai beamed as Virgil pushed himself further into the calming embrace. "I love Roman."

"Than don't let him go."
