Karina's POV
The next weeks after Mr Sanders came to my office practically flew by. Work was normal, no drama. I kind of missed showing someone my bitchy side. All things were going on fine until one day at the office, I got a phone call from my mom.
"Hey mom. How are you?" I said
"I'm fine " she said sounding a bit off
"And dad?"
"He's not doing too well karry " she said
"What's wrong with my step father?" I asked now worried
"First of all, I thought I told you not to call him stepfather. He's your dad now."
"Okay mom,But what happened?"
"Nothing happened to him. It's his son Xavier. He got involved in an accident and he is worried sick"
"Oh my gosh Xavier! Is he alright?"
"He is alright. He was taken to the hospital quickly so he didn't lose much blood."
"Thank God. Are you guys going to visit him?"
"Unfortunately, no. Your dad and I have an official meeting in Tokyo and we leave tomorrow."
"So Xavier is all alone in the hospital. That's not fair"
"That's the reason why I called. I wanted to know if you can go to Los Angeles to nurse him for a month "
"What? Definitely not. I'm too busy. Why don't you ask Kim?"
"Kim is too busy. She can't go. Come on, be a nice step sister."
"I'm sorry mom but I can't go "
"You see, that's the thing, I'm not asking you, it's an order and don't you dare disobey your mother. You are going to Los Angeles for a month and that's final. Got that Missy?"
"But mom..."
"Bye Karina. Better go and start packing. I already booked your flight. You take off in an hour. I'll send you the details. Love you."
"But..." She hung up
Aaah!!! I hate when she pulls the mother card. Now I have to travel to Los Angeles for a month. And worst of all, it's my birth month!!! Well, who knows, maybe the trip might turn out nice.
I quickly finished up in the office and went back to my apartment to pack my stuff. After that, I quickly got on a taxi to the airport and after doing all the necessary stuff, I got on the plane and it took off. It was a really long flight so I had enough time to get some sleep. When I landed, I saw the message my mom had sent me containing the name and address of the hospital Xavier was in. When I got there, the receptionist gave me his room number and when I opened the door, I was in for a surprise
"Karina, you made it " Xavier said but I didn't even look his way. My eyes were focused on a face I wouldn't be able to forget in a long time. He looked different. He had a new haircut and of course he looked scrumptious as always. I quickly hid my excitement and covered it up with a straight face but not forgetting to give my cocky smile.
"You? " he said with the same surprise I had on seeing him
"Hello Mr Sanders fancy seeing you here "
"I see you two have finally met" Xavier said
"How do you two know each other?" Jayson asked Xavier
"Uhhm...she is my stepsister. Duuh!"
"What? You have a stepsister and you didn't tell us dude?" One of the other guys in the room said
"Actually, I have two." Xavier said
"You have two stepsisters?!!"
"Yeah,Karina and Kim. Yeah, how is Kim? I haven't heard from her in a while" Xavier replied
"She's good ,just busy as always." I said
"And none of us knew you had two step sisters?. I thought we were supposed to best friends?"Jayson said
" We are dude "
"Doesn't seem like it if you were hiding so much from us "
"I wasn't hiding anything from you guys. I told you guys, you just misinterpreted me. I always mentioned my sister, but I'm sure you just thought I meant someone close to me that I called sister. Right?"
"Well, yes. So Karina is your sister? How dumb of me. Your name is Karina Foxwell Sarder and it didn't ring a bell."Jayson said while laughing a cute little laugh
"Too bad. Well,If you guys are done with your " bromance", Xavier, mom said I should come here for a month to " nurse you back to health" but I see you have company so I'll just go to your house. I'm jet lagged. Send me your house address or tell one of your friends to since you can't use both your hands."
"Kk. So Jayson, you didn't know my dad's the owner of the wine company your company buys from?"Xavier asked
" I really didn't. "
"Really? Why do you think our dads are so close? Wow! You really don't know much about me huhn?"
"Oh shut up. I wish I had known earlier maybe, I won't have had a bad first meeting with someone." He said looking at me with a sexy smirk on his face
For some reason, heat started rushing to my cheeks and I could see the blonde girl in the room giving me a very weird smile. Awkward!
"So Xavier, I'll be expecting that address. I'm leaving now. " As I turned to leave, I heard him call my name
"Hey Karina " Jayson said and I loved the way my name sounded from his mouth
"What do you want?" I said with a straight face.
"Is this your first time in Los Angeles?"
"Yeah, so?"
"Well, if you don't mind, I can accompany you to his house. I know all the routes in Los Angeles"
"No thanks. I'll rather take a taxi. I'm sure the taxi driver knows the way around also since, you know,it's kinda his job. Bye!" I said leaving the room and shutting the door
Gosh,I've missed my bitchy side!
Seems like this is going to be a good month after all.
