Karina's POV
*Bang bang*I heard the sound of the gun fill the room followed by the loud gasp of the congregation. I stood there with my eyes closed waiting to feel the pain of the bullet penetrating through my dress and into my skin , but I felt nothing. I gently opened my eyes and saw Jayson standing in front of me with his eyes wide open and his mouth open slightly. I didn't understand what was going on until he leaned on me and I saw the blood stain on his suit.
He took the bullet for me!
"Jayson!!!" Emily shouted and the whole church became rowdy and noisy
"Emily what is your problem? Have you gone mad?" Gabrielle said
"The shot wasn't meant for him, it was meant for her" she said pointing the gun at me "she caused this! That's all she does. Cause pain and bring misfortune. She needs to die" she said. While all this was going on, all I did was stand there and hold Jayson. My mind was still trying to process what had just happened.
"Karina...I love you." Jayson said to me
"Jayson. Listen to me... You are going to be fine" I said putting him to lay in the floor
"Alright nobody move or else I'm gonna kill someone" she said sounding deranged. "Jayson my love, this wasn't meant to happen. I wanted to kill her. Why did you have to take the shot" she said pointing the gun at me but not moving from where she was"I would never want to hurt you. You know I love you "she said crying. I almost felt bad for her. Jayson's mom and sister were already crying but they couldn't leave where they were because they were afraid. His father and brother looked terrified but they couldn't do anything. I looked at my mom and saw her shedding tears on my father's shoulders while he comforted her.
" Emily...Emily...look, put the gun down and come with me let's go to the hospital. I think you need to see a doctor"her husband Ethan said
"What? You think I have a mental problem...huhn?? Is that what you think...darling?" She said now aiming at him.
"You know what, I never loved you. So goodbye" she said before pressing the trigger and shooting Ethan in the chest. He dropped to the floor in pain and the church was filled with fear.
"Now back to you bitch. I told you... I told you that you and Jayson could never be together but you didn't believe me. Now that Jayson's going to die, there's no point being alive. I'm gonna kill you then kill myself. Nighty night Karina" she said before pressing the trigger. I closed my eyes waiting for the bullet pain for the second time that day but it never came. There were two gunshots but none hit me. I opened my eyes and saw Emily on the floor with a bloody arm. I looked behind her and saw my sister with her black curls and nice sleeveless cream below-the-knee baggy jumpsuit and black six inch sandal platform heels holding a gun.
"I told you having a gun at all times will always come in handy. Now relax everyone, the ambulance will soon be here. Now as for you Missy, you gonna be in trouble for this" Kim said holding Emily and putting a pair of handcuffs on her. Who knows where she got those?
Immediately she took Emily, I went on my knees beside Jayson with tear filled eyes while his family came and gathered around us. His mom and sister were still crying but the men tried to comfort them
"Jayson. Jayson my love. Hang in there, the ambulance is in it's way" I said with a shaky voice
"I'm not gonna make it" he said
"No don't say that. You are gonna make it. You'll make it and both of us are going to be happy together"
"That's not possible Karina. I'm going to die here and I know it."
"Stop saying that. Nothing is going to happen to you."
"Did you see? I kept my vow. I told you I was going to protect you and that's what I did. I protected you"
"Yes you did. You did my hero. You protected me"
"Yeah..." Cough cough "I'm happy to know that the last thing I did on this earth was to protect you"
"This is not the last thing. We are still going to get married and have children. Just be patient. The ambulance will soon...wait! They are here! They are here. You're gonna live. Okay?"
"No I won't. Remember I loved you. Remember me. Be happy. There are many guys out there. One of them will make you very happy. Not me. I love you Karina... I love y..." He said his eyes shutting close
"Jayson? Jayson!!!! Jayson!!!" I screamed in tears"please help him...he's gonna die!!!"I yelled. The medical people quickly came to carry his body away. They also carried Ethan and put him in the ambulance. I wanted to go with them to the hospital but Jayson's mum wouldn't let me. Instead, she and Rihanna were the ones who went with the ambulance while Gabrielle, Jake and Jayson's dad drove there. I sat down there on the floor shedding tears while my friends tried to comfort me. The police finally arrived and they took Emily away even with her two gunshots. I guess they were going to treat her in some special place so she wouldn't escape.
"What if he dies Kim? If he dies, I'm going to die" I said in tears to my sister when we were alone
"Shhh! Don't say that. He's going to be alright. Just stay positive."
"I can't Kim. I just can't" I said crying on her shoulders while she hugged me
"Excuse me miss?" I heard a voice say. I looked up and saw a dark skin police man standing towering over my sister and I who were seated "sorry to disturb, but I'll have to take you to the station for questioning" he said with his baritone voice
"Excuse you, do you not see the condition she is in? Are you really that insensitive or are you just heartless?"Kim said
" I'm sorry, but I just doing my job"he said
"And what is your job? Being plain ass insensitive?"
"Okay ma'am, you can't talk to me that way."
"Really? Because I think I can. In case you don't know, I can get you fired with just one phone call...Sean." I saw the policeman's face harden and tense up
"Uhhm...I'm sorry. I'll come back later"
"Bye now" Kim said as the man left
"What was that about?"
"Nothing, I just didn't like him. And to be honest, I don't even know who he is. I just read his name tag" she said making me laugh a little
"Yes, laugh. That's what I want. Don't worry.Everything's gonna be fine" she said to me and I calmed down
