REMEDY

Chapter Twelve

Karina's POV

After Jayson's tickle fest, we stayed a bit and finished watching the movie but for some reason, I started feeling butterflies in my stomach. Even though that sounds like a very cliché line, it was how I felt. Knowing he was beside me made me feel warm and more comfortable but of course, I didn't show it.  I didn't want to tell Jayson about my birthday. There wasn't any particular reason, I just didn't want him to know.

The next morning came and I was awake as early as five thirty am. Not because I was excited, but because it was a tradition for me to work out on my birthday mornings. I changed from my night wear into my black sports bra and my black leggings and packed my hair into a high ponytail. I grabbed my phone and plugged in my earphones. I put my phone into my arm pouch and as my work out music blared into my ears, I began to stretch before beginning my jog. I started jogging and barely ten minutes into my jog, I noticed someone jogging by my side. He had dirty blond hair and he sported a black tank top and a pair of grey joggers. He had a face I had become all too familiar with...Jayson! He looked really good with his hair being tussled by the cold morning air. He kept on looking at me and smiling but I just ignored him. He kept on trying to get my attention but I ignored all his attempts until when he yanked my earphones right out of my ears and sped off with them.

"Hey! Give me my earphones " I yelled as I chased after him. I hadn't realised before but he was a really fast runner. I tried to catch up with him but it was impossible. When I think I'm meeting up with him, he increases his speed and then boom, I can't meet him again. After trying to meet up with him and failing several times, I head back home and lock myself in my room. Not because I was angry, but because I was grinning ear to ear like a nine year old girl. I found it kinda cute how he took the earphones and ran away. It reminded me of some of the Korean movies I had watched. I didn't understand what was happening to me. I was feeling things for Jayson that I wasn't accustomed to. It was my first time feeling like this for anyone and I didn't want it to happen. I can't let anything happen between Jayson and I but he wasn't making things easy by doing such cute things like the tickling and now this. I have to prevent this. I quickly go into the bathroom and prepare a nice bath filled with soap and bubbles. I mean, it's my birthday, I deserve a nice relaxing bath. I undress and get into the tub enjoying the feel of the lavender scented soap against my tender skin. After about ten minutes, I rinse the soap off my body before drying off. I then put on a fitted plain white round neck shirt tucked into a big pair of camo cargo pants. My hair was left down...you know, just to have a playful look. I top it off with white socks and my favourite white adidas sneakers. I wait till I hear the door to the house close and the tyres of Jayson's car screech against the tarred road before I come out of my room.

I went to the kitchen to whip up something to eat. I ended up making some toast, cereal and pineapple juice. I carried my food to the living room so I could watch some TV while having breakfast and on getting to the living room, I saw my earphones on the table with a little note beside it.

"Here are your earphones. Sorry for running away with them but you really need to work on your running speed. See you tonight. Love ya!"

Those last two words made me smile like a six year old on Christmas morning. Even though he didn't mean it, it still made me feel good. I folded the letter and put it into my pocket before settling down to have my breakfast. About two hours later, the ladies came and they all looked good. Ruby was wearing a sleeveless denim jumpsuit with a pair of ankle boots. Gabrielle wore a pair of blue jeans and a red and black lumber jack shirt tied up below her breasts making it look like a crop top with blue sneakers while Merida wore black knee length shorts and a blue long sleeve button up shirt with black sneakers. I grabbed my purse, sun shades and phone and then we were off to have a great time.

I had a lot of fun. We went to the mall to watch a movie and of course we went shopping. After the mall, they took me to an art gallery to look at some art before we went rock climbing. To end it all up, we had a lovely feast at a very classy Chinese restaurant. I loved my birthday. After eating, we were all tired so we went our separate ways.

I got home so exhausted. When I got home, I saw Jayson's car parked in front of the house which was weird because he never came that early. I opened the door and saw him sitting down sipping on some whiskey.

"Hey " I greeted

"Hello. How was your day?" He said rather coldly

"Good. I went out with your sister and her friends."

"Great... So, why didn't you tell me today's your birthday?"

Shit!

"Uhhm...who told you about that "

"Xavier did. Now, why didn't you tell me? I'm your room mate, I deserve to know "

"Do you now?"

"Yes I do. You know what, go and get dressed. Let's go out."

"No "

"Why not?"

"Because I don't wanna go out with you "

"Oh, I get it, my presence affects you."

What?

"What? Of course not. I couldn't care less about your presence."

"You sure about that Karry?"

"Totally "

"Then you'll have no problem going out with me tonight."

"No I don't." I said knowing I had won

"Good. Be ready by nine. We're going out."

"No problem " I said fiercely

"Good" he said smirking

"Good" I said storming away

I quickly dashed into my room and locked the door. It was then it dawned on me...I had been tricked and now, I'm going out with Jayson
