Jayson's POV
Our eyes met,and I couldn't stop staring. It was her! The girl who took my heart and shattered it into pieces. The girl who left me at the altar looking like a complete moron. I hate her. Seeing her again brought back the rage I felt the day she left me at the altar. She looked away and she and her husband went to their table.
"What are you looking at?" Karina said snapping me out of my thoughts
"Nobody. Would you like to order?...waiter!!" I said trying to avoid the topic
"Why are you avoiding the question? You were looking at the couple that just walked in? Don't think I didn't notice. Do you know them?" She asked. I was about to reply when our waiter came. I ordered a plate of colcannon potatoes while she ordered some Irish spiced beef.
"So...do you know them?"
"Yes. The lady is my ex."
"Oh my god! She's the bitch who left you at the altar?"
"Who told you about that? Wait let me guess,Gabrielle?"
"Yup"
"No surprise there. But yeah, she's the one."
"So, you still like her huhn?"
"What?"
"Do you still like your ex?"
That's a question even I don't have an answer to. Seeing her here with Ethan angers me, but I don't think I still like her. My heart is beginning to fall for someone else.
"No."
"Are you sure? Because you've been staring at her since she walked in. If you want, we can leave. It's alright."
"No. It's not alright and we are not leaving because of them. I already told you, I don't feel anything for her...well maybe hatred and disgust but not love. My heart belongs to someone else."
I saw her body tense up and her cheeks turn red.
"Really... That's good."
"Yeah," I said taking her soft and delicate hands into my big hands. She tried to remove her hands but I didn't let her.
"Why are you holding my hands?" She said laughing awkwardly
"There's something I've been meaning to tell you Karina."
"R...rrr...really? Which is?"
"Karina, since the day Emily left me at the altar, my life became a mess. I had no will to live... Not until I met you."
"What??? That was such a cheesy line"
"It might have been cheesy but it's the truth. You mesmerize me. Even though you try to be mean to me and show your bitchy side, I'm still drawn to you. I've tried to stop the feelings, but I can't. I like you Karina."
"Wow! Oh my gosh!...uhhm...I didn't see that coming."
"And, even though you might deny it,I know you feel something for me too"I said letting go of her hands
"Excuse me?! Wow, you really have a huge ego. Well, to be honest, you are an attractive man and you do have a good body but..."
"No, don't say anything. You don't have to give me your own response now, I just had to get it off my chest. Let's just enjoy ourselves this evening and just continue as if I didn't say anything. "
"Okay then"
Some minutes later, our food came and it smelt and tasted delicious. We ate,laughed drank wine, laughed some more and spoke about different things. She was really fun to be with and very goofy. I saw a totally different side of her. My feelings for her intensified and I wanted to be with her all the time. We stayed there for a while just enjoying each others company. We took some really cute selfies and ordered dessert. I ordered a cheesecake while she ordered strawberry ice cream with wafers. We ate and had a little fun with our food. I stained her nose with my cheesecake while she put some ice cream on my cheek. She easily cleaned of the cake from her nose but the ice cream again was tough to clean. I excused myself before heading to the rest room. After cleaning up, I came out of the restroom into the hallway and there she was...Emily. She looked pretty but when compared to Karina, she looked like crap.
"Emily"
"Jayson"
"What are you doing here?" I asks
"Well, this is my mother's restaurant in case you didn't know so I have a right to be here " she said
How did I not know this was her mom's restaurant. Stupid me! It's even in the name...GRAVE'S.
"I meant in front of the male restroom. Isn't your husband enough? You now want the d*cks of random men?"
"Oh Jayson my love" she said pitting her right palm on my cheek "I've missed you"
"I'm sorry, but did you just call me your love? In case you don't remember, you are married."
"I know I am. Why do you think we are here for dinner? Today makes it four months since we got married...Four months since I made the greatest mistake of my life."
"I'm sorry, but I'm not getting you." I said removing her hand from my face.
"Jayson, I'm sorry. I was foolish. I don't know why I did what I did. I made a mistake. It's you I love not Ethan. I was just confused. He is an awesome husband. He loves me and takes care of me. He is a very great person but he isn't the one I want. I want you Jayson. You're the man I want."
"Wow! How ironic. I wanted to get married to you. I loved you and you betrayed me and now you're saying all this?"
"I'm sorry my love. Stop using past tense because you still love me. I know you do. I don't know who that frog you were having dinner with is but she cannot love you as much as I do." She said her eyes welling up with tears
"First of all, never in your god damn life insult Karina again and secondly, you're already too late. I don't love you anymore Emily. My heart belongs to someone else. Go and meet your husband because you sound very pathetic right now. Goodbye!"I said walking away
" I'm the one for you Jayson. You'll never be happy with her. I promise you." She said
"Bye Emily" I said walking away
When I got to my table, I saw Karina and for some reason I couldn't do anything but smile
"What took you so long. The bill arrived while you were away and I'm not paying for it"
"Nothing important. Just...a long line for the bathroom." I said putting the money on the table
"Thanks for this. I had a wonderful time. Best birthday gift ever. Just don't tell your sister that." She laughed
"My lips are sealed. Shall we go?."
"Sure" she said grabbing her purse
We got up and went outside. The moonlight shone on her making her silver-grey eyes look like little stars on her perfect face. She was like a goddess...my goddess!. I looked at her and smiled to myself. No one is going to take her from me. She's MINE!
