Jayson's POV
Silence... That's the only sound I had heard for the past two months had stayed away from everyone. I excluded myself from society. I didn't want to see anyone...No! Not after what she did to me... On my wedding day! I hate her. I hate him too. She used me. She lied to me. She took me for a fool...I will never forgive her. I will never forgive Emily Grave.
It had been two months since I was left standing on the altar by my soon to be wife. Each time I remembered that day, I felt idiotic. How did I not notice the obvious signs? Stupid me! My family members had come looking for me severally but I never opened the door. I locked myself in for two months. I had not seen the sunlight in two months. I'm guessing that's not healthy but...oh well. I finally decide it's time to check my phone. I put on my phone and connect it to my house WiFi. Messages start rushing in nonstop. My phone began to vibrate continuously for about three minutes before it finally stopped. Seven hundred messages had entered. Most of them were from my sister and mom but that's not what I cared I about. I scrolled through my phone looking for a message from her telling me all this was a joke and she just didn't want many people at her wedding. I knew that would be dumb, but I had to be optimistic. I scrolled through looking for her name...and I finally found it. Only one message which read
"I'm sorry."
Fuck!
It's real. "Fuck you Emily Grave! Fuck you Ethan! Fuck both of you!" I screamed at the top of my voice as my eyes began to well up again. Control yourself man!
I look through my phone and see messages from my sister Gabrielle. She seemed really worried though.
I dial her number. The phone rings once, twice, thrice... Before she finally picks up
"Jayson? Oh my gosh Jayson you're alive! " she screeched
"Nice to hear from you again baby sis "I replied as a smile slowly crept to my face
"Dude, it's been two months. Mom and dad have been worried as fuck. You know what I'm coming over and you better open up if not,I'm going to break that freaking door down. Got that?" She says playfully but I could hear the seriousness dripping from every word
"I really don't want to see anyone right n..." She cut me off. That girl needs to understand that I'm her senior brother!
In the next forty minutes, she arrives at my doorstep. I had to open for her because I knew my sister. If she is determined, she would pull my door down.
"Hey " I said with a little smirk
"Oh my gosh, you look terrible. Heart break really doesn't suit you" she says stepping into my house and giving me a little hug
"Nice to see you too sis " I say sarcastically
"Wow! This place looks...tidy. I was expecting one of those cliché movie heart break settings. You know, with the dirty clothes everywhere, the pizza boxes all over and of course smelly but seems like no matter how heart broken you are, you still love your home clean." She says taking a quick glance around
"Yup"
"So, how've you been?"
"Heart broken " I say meaning it
"I know love but this can't bring you down. You are Jayson Sanders! You can get another girl. Emily isn't the only one out there. There are bigger fishes in the sea "she says taking a seat on the couch
"Yeah I know, it's just that I really love her and she just left me there at the altar "
"I know but maybe what happened happened for a reason. Maybe you two just weren't meant to be "
"Whatever" I say trying to end that awkward topic "So... How's the company been?"I quickly ask to stop the awkwardness
"Good. Matthew has been doing a good job running it alone."she says
"Yeah? Well no surprise there. He's very efficient."
"He really is. So...do you plan on going to work anytime soon?"she asks
"Uggh! I don't know! I'm tired Gabby. I just want to stay away from everyone. I want to think about my life and what to do next. I'm sure my story's been trending on social media right?"
"Dude, not just social media, your story was on E news "she says
"What?... Really?"I say out of shock
"Yup "
"Fuck. This is so annoying "
"I agree with you though. You should really stay away. I think you need a vacation. And I don't just mean locking yourself up in your house. I mean a real vacation. In maybe another country. There you can have time to think about everything you want and your next step"
"You think so?"
"Yeah, it'll be good for you "
"I'll think about it " I said picking up my phone to check the top trending topics
Immediately I search it, I see it. It's the second top trending news of the month. The heading was;
"Young entrepreneur Jayson Sanders left on the altar by his fiancée "
"Shit! I'm actually trending " I say pointing my phone in Gabrielle's direction
"Told ya " she says looking at her phone
"Fuck " I say about exiting when my eye catchee a name. A very familiar name. Emily Grave. It was the top trending topic of the month. The heading read:
"After only a month, Emily Grave ties the knot with a different hunk"
"Uhhm, Gabrielle?" I say as my mind begins to fully understand what I had just read
"Yeah?" She says looking away from her phone
"What's the meaning of this?" I said angrily pointing my phone at her
"Uhhm...fuck! Okay relax bro. It's not what you think. " she says putting her phone down
"Really? Because i think it is in fact what I think"I say getting angrier
" Jayson, calm down "
"Gabrielle... speak." I say with anger dripping from every word
"Okay okay " she gulped but still kept mute
"Well..."
"Emily got married to Ethan last month "
