499 days since the virus spread
A week passes
Everything turned out fine and back to normal, I'm so relieved.
Even though I was so tired the night of the blood transfusion, I couldn't fall sleep, I was too worried about Ray. I continued to watch over Ray for the days without end, or sleep, praying with every ounce of my soul that Ray's body would accept my blood. It was a scary thing to wait for.
Luckily, it did, that means the world's weight has been lifted off my shoulders. I can finally breathe again.
Ray has become his old self again, which makes Mikey extremely happy. He's talkative and back to being his leader and controlling self.
Can you believe I missed it? I can't believe that I actually missed that part of him.
I haven't seen Mikey this relaxed since Ray got sick, of actually ever. I can see the tension has been broken and everyone is back to normal.
We haven't found a new place to stay yet, we're still staying in the car which is totally over crowded, so I'm in a hurry to find a place soon that we can all have our own space. Well, I don't mind sharing with Frank. I enjoy his company and don't mind being with him all the time.
We've been on the road for a few days now, we just passed through Michigan and managed to get into Indiana. There should be a place we can stop at for a few days, plus we need to find some gas for the Rover or we won't get much further. Luckily the fuel use on this thing is great.
"How much further?" Mikey complains and rests his head on the window, "I'm sick of driving around all day, we've been doing this for the whole week."
"I don't know, we're in the middle of no where at this point. There should be somewhere in the next few miles." I say and look at him and Ray in the read mirror.
Mikey sighs heavily and rests his head on Ray's shoulder.
Looking over to the passenger seat, I see Frank has fallen asleep. He wrapped himself in my jacket and uses another jacket as a pillow to rest his head against the window.
I can't blame him for being tired, I'm tired of driving too. I don't think we've taken a break in the last few days actually, fifteen minutes at most.
I step on the break and let the car come to a halt. I sigh angrily and glare at the vehicle jammed highway. This is not good.
"Why are we stopping?" Mikey says and leans towards me and looks out the window.
"We can't get through here with the car, we will have to find another way." Ray sighs and opens the car door to get out.
All of us, except Frank, climb out of the car.
The cars are very close to each other, almost impossible to get through on foot as well. We can just as well use this advantage to grab supplies and find some gas.
"You two look through all of the cars and see if you can find some supplies. I'll wake Frank up and check the other side of the highway." I say and take my knife out of my pocket.
"We'll check for gas as well, I'm going to grab the fuel tank from the back." Mikey says as he opens up the car's trunk.
"Don't go too far, get Frank to go with you. It isn't safe alone out here." Ray says and takes his gun out of his gun holster.
He fills up all the rounds and tightly grips it in his hand. Mikey comes back, holding the small container over his shoulder like a handbag. They start walking away and check out the red Porsche a few feet away.
