459 days since the virus spread

Three days pass

We've been staying at the abandoned farm for the last three days, since I thought I would be better for Frank to rest and get better. His leg has heeled up nicely with the antibiotics and is luckily only a scab now, which is great, but now I don't have any supply left of antibiotics which could become a problem.

At least, we can finally get moving again.

"Fill up your bottles, we have to get moving again. It's not safe to stay in the same place too long. We have to go out looking for some gas for the truck." I say and reload my sniper rifle.

"If we can find something." Frank nods and runs to the kitchen's tap to fill up all our water bottles.

As he does that, I pack our bags and something I found while being around here.

I found more cans of food in a shed which is great, since we almost ran out when we got here. Frank also found a new sharp knife for himself and there was some more ammo laying around, but it's not enough for the journey we have to take.

Frank comes back and gives me my bottles of water. He packs his in his backpack and puts it on his back.

"It's going to get pretty hot out there today, so it's best we get going now." He says, wiping the sweat of his forehead.

"Let's go."

We walk out of the abandoned farm, back onto the road, in search of gas.

Frank's right, it's already hot outside.

I'm already sweating like crazy, plus the heavy bag doesn't help.

"There should be some farming vehicles or machinery around here which runs on gas." I say and Frank nods.

I look around extremely anxious, my heart is beating in my throat.

"I saw a grain cutting machine in the front yard, we should check that," He says, smiling at me," Gerard, are you okay? You seem spooked."

I look up at him, "Yeah, I'm fine. I'm just anxious to get out of here, more and more Zs are showing up which is worrying me. They're coming in bigger groups now, it seems they're all going in the same direction as what we're traveling in." I say, looking over my shoulder again.

More and more zombies are showing up, as if they're following us. Lucky enough, they haven't seen us yet but they will soon. They always do somehow.

"In that case, let's get going. There's no gas in here." He says, getting back up from the machinery.

He anxiously looks at the zombies.

We run a few yards around the zombies that they don't notice us. We manage to get out of the main road again, it's the easiest way to travel.

"Looks like we're walking." Frank says and holds onto his backpack's straps.

There's a long, awful road ahead of us, with quite a few hiccups coming along the way.

Four hours later.

It's the heat of day, we're both exhausted and extremely dehydrated. We're struggling to keep a move on. Killing hungry zombies on the side becomes tiring.
