507 days since the virus spread
2 days pass
The last few days have been great.
Everyone is in a good mood, loving even. Everything is just perfect, well as perfect as it could be in a zombie apocalypse. Even the hotel's bar is full.
New Mexico is still beautiful, even after the apocalypse. The buildings are still colorful.
It's just so peaceful and relaxing, I think it's a great idea that we stopped here. I wish that we could stay here forever. We're all having a good time while laughing and hanging out with everyone.
We feel like a family again for the first time in forever.
But as always, we run out of supplies. That means we have to go looking for some. That's always a huge bummer.
It's Frank and I's turn to search for supplies. We've been walking around all afternoon. Ray and Mikey tagged along with us and help us carry the stuff we found.
They don't really carry much, they just load it into their backpacks. Looking over my shoulder, I watch Ray and Mikey hold hands as they laugh. They look so happy. I see color in their faces.
I don't think any of us have felt like this in a long time.
We divided up into teams.
We came across a building with open windows, where you can see a vending machine with multiple bottles of water and snacks in it.
While Frank and I try to get inside, they patrol with my sniper rifle, making sure we don't get surprised. There's aren't many zombies here but you never know. We have seen a few, but not that much that we should be concerned.
We hit the jackpot by finding a vending machine, you're lucky if you can even find one. There's a teeny tiny problem, we have to get on to the second story of the building to be able to get in the window. I literally have to climb up the wall as the damn door is inoperable.
We've tried everything, I've never even been rock climbing before, but here I go anyway.
"Be careful up there!" Frank calls loudly and looks extremely nervous as I climb up the wall.
Looking down, I see all the pieces of rusted scrap metal laying around, maybe they'll be good for something that we can make a weapon of later. They're all sharp, we can collect some of them when I come down. We still have to be careful since they have rust on them.
My fingers cramp as I pull myself up again. I feel unsteady on the wall, my arms feel like two jelly noodles. Looking at me, you can see I've been on a bit of a vacation.
My biceps cramp as pull myself up into the window.
As I sit on the window sill, I let out a huge breath of relief then I show Frank a thumbs up and rest my head against the window silk. I take a few deep breaths to catch my breath again.
Looking down at Frank, I see him doing something with his hands, he's pointing at something.
What's he pointing at? Surely it can't be for me?
