504 days since the virus spread
Later that day
"How does your head feel?" I ask, wrapping a new clean bandage around Frank's head.
He bites down on his lip as I apply it. I lift my fingers off his head as he repeatedly flinches.
I'm trying my best to be gentle with him, but it's hard tying a bandage correctly around a head wound. Luckily, his isn't too bad, just a nasty gash.
More bloody than anything else.
"It hurts, but it's okay." He mutters as I secure the bandage.
"Are you sure?" I say, looking at his pained face.
He nods and closes his eyes as I start working on it again.
Basically what happened is, uhm, well, we were all heading to the car and Frank kind of got hit by a flying revolver, making a huge gash on his head. We don't know how that happened, but that's not the point. It's not too bad, no stitches required or anything, but he has a slight concussion.
Concussions are the worst. I had to keep him awake for the next four hours. Not because he will go into a coma, but there is a bleed in the brain, he may go unconscious. It's better to be safe.
Lucky for us, he is fine. No other symptoms of any head injuries or brain bleeds, plus his four hours are almost over.
Anyway, back to what happened.
We managed to get our car back, then we found a gas pump and filled up the car. We raided some shops that is surrounding the gas station and found a whole lot of food supplies, water, a first aid kit and some pain medication. I stole a pack of cigarettes too, I'm hiding it in my jacket's pocket.
We should be set for the next week or two.
While we pumped our car full of precious gas, I could stretch my legs and check on Frank. The others went to look for some more supplies or ammunition laying around. Anything helps.
Ray even managed to find a gas tank thing to keep another tank full of gas in the back.
Honestly, it was easy to get away.
I thought it would've been harder, but the mutant zombies took no interest in us, especially since we didn't attack them. They need to be provoked and I guess the Alpha Zs did. The group of them that took us, couldn't focus on us as they were being attacked.
They've probably noticed that we're gone by now.
The mutant zombie is much easier to handle, since they only attack when provoked. They don't have as large appetite as the normal decomposing zombies, they kind of just waddle around and enjoy their time. They're like the gentle giants of the Zs.
They're not a threat, well as I said, unless provoked. Just don't poke the bear, I guess.
Currently, we're trying to make our way to California.
It's late afternoon now, it's hot and humid. It's mid summer weather here. It's usually cooler where I'm from, so I'm sweating like a pig.
