An hour passes

We got inside the hospital, if you can call it that. There's not much left of it, just the walls are basically left.

There isn't much inside, everything is totally wrecked. Sheets are everywhere, hospital beds and equipment is just all over the place. It looks like a hurricane went through here. There's a lot of dried up blood which makes my gut twist.

I continue to look out of the broken window, the cold air blows on my face. I bite down on my bottom lip as I worry.

I'm worried about Frank, I don't want to leave him alone too long.

"I don't like this," Mikey says, flashing his flashlight out the door and then pulls the door slightly closed, "I don't feel comfortable, I feel like something's watching us. Don't you feel it, Gerard? This place just gives me the creeps."

I open the ruined curtains a little bit again and look out the hospital's window at the car, making sure Frank's still okay in the car. There isn't anything threatening insight, not inside the camp's gate anyway.

There are a few zombies snooping around outside the gate, but we closed it up pretty well. No one should be able to get in.

"Yeah, I don't like it either, we should just get out of here. There's no one here, we have to figure out where the camp might be." I sigh sadly and look at Ray, who is stuffing his bag full of medication.

We found a lot of morphine, antibiotics, bandages and painkillers which are going to come in handy. We were running low on supplies so this is a huge bonus. Plus we found a vending machine full of candies, we stacked up on snacks. I like snacks. A lot of snacks.

"I guess we should get going, I don't want to leave Frank out there alone for too long. I don't feel comfortable with him there on his own, especially in his condition." Ray says and closes the cupboard's doors.

Mikey immediately jumps up and walks over to the door. He stands there impatiently, begging with his body language that we can leave.

"Come on, hurry up." Mikey says and impatiently waits at the door that leads to the passage.

"Okay, okay. Just calm down-

I tune out from Ray's conversation with Mikey.

There's sound coming from the passage, it's really soft, but it almost sounds like voices or footsteps that are echoing. I'm not sure and I'm definitely not making a mistake by exposing ourselves too early.

"Do you hear that?" I whisper, holding my finger up, silencing them. Both of them go silent, looking at me.

There's a mutter of voices, it's getting louder.

Ray looks at me, looking annoyed.

"Gerard, don't you-

"Shh!" I whisper again and listen, "There's something coming down the passage." I swallow.

There's a few seconds of silence between us as the others also listen. I can on hear my heartbeat.

"Is it people? Or do you think zombies?" Mikey whispers, then quietly pulls the door completely shut and locks the door, "I hope it's people, I really do."

"I'm not sure, let's just be quiet and wait. We can't afford another setback." I whisper and look at the light coming from Mikey's torch, "Mikey, turn off the flashlight. They'll see us through the glass."
