Come Monday, Wooyoung was antsy his entire shift at the library. He still made sure to do everything he was supposed to do, plus more.
A group of teenagers decided it would be ok to goof around in the back corner of the library and ended up knocking over several bookcases.
Wooyoung kicked them out immediately and spent the rest of his shift trying to organize the books to the best of his ability.
With no help...
That was the other thing Wooyoung had an issue with. Because his coworkers were all older, they were also on the lazier side and didn't put in the same kind of effort. They assumed Wooyoung would just take care of it, which he did because he was a nice person with a good work ethic...
He really hoped this job with Marcus ended up working out and he could eventually quit this job.
Doing the best he could to get the mess cleaned up, Wooyoung didn't bother with making it perfect. He could do that tomorrow. But he did get everything back on the shelves before clocking out and running out the front door before anyone could ask him to do something else.
He wished he had something nicer to wear for his first day of work, but he didn't feel like it would be a good idea to show up in the same outfit as his interview, so he settled for an old t-shirt and tried to dress it up with his new hoodie.
Wooyoung caught the last bus to the city and hurried to the small office.
Marcus was sitting behind the desk typing on the main computer. He lifted his head up right away and smiled. "Ah! You're here."
"I told you I would be." Wooyoung said as he closed the doors.
"Yes you did. I'm glad to know that so far I can trust you." Marcus' eyes narrowed a little as they drifted up and down. "Let's get started shall we?"
"Please show me what you would like me to do!" Wooyoung had a hard time hiding his excitement as he followed Marcus into the back office.
He cringed a little when saw that it was filled almost floor to ceiling with filing cabinets and stray files.
"So this is where I need you to start." Marcus said, sighing and rubbing the back of his neck. "With it being just me, staying organized hasn't been the top of my list so you've got your work cut out for you. Impress me." The taller ended while arching his eyebrow and chuckled as he left the room.
Wooyoung pursed his lips and surveyed the room trying to decide where to start. He grabbed a couple of files and noticed that they were each at least labeled with a name, city, or business.
So he was keeping files on more than just people.
He started by going through the files and sorting them between the three groups. The 'people' pile was definitely the largest one, and was dangerously close to toppling over at any moment.
A knock came from the doorway some time later and Wooyoung looked up to see Marcus leaning against it will a smile on his face. "Wow. You've been busy."
The younger sighed and spun in a circle. "I feel like I've hardly made any progress. But it should be organized. Files on people are in that corner, places are in this one, and businesses are over there. The next step is alphabetizing them and assigning them to a filing cabinet."
Marcus nodded, following along. "It's a great start. Come on, I ordered us some dinner. Then you can head home. It's already almost eight."
Wooyoung's eyes widened, "Is it really that late?" He walked to the front room and looked out the windows. The city lights were on, giving everything an entirely different look and feel. "I should get home." He turned to Marcus.
