At one point during the evening, San had to part from them so he could greet his other guests and be a good host.
Jongho ended up taking that moment as an excuse to pull Wooyoung to the dance floor and the two of them enjoying spinning in slow circles for a little bit.
The younger held Wooyoung's hand close to his chest while Wooyoung tucked his nose into Jongho's neck on the opposite side. It was intimate and so full of love that, for a bit, Wooyoung forgot that they were even at a public party.
During the third song, Jongho finally broke their comfortable silence with a small, "Thank you."
Wooyoung already knew what he was talking about, so he tilted his head back slightly to press his lips to Jongho's neck. A small, content sigh came from his boyfriend. Jongho loved it when Wooyoung kissed his neck, so Wooyoung tried to take advantage of it whenever he could. "You don't need to thank me."
"But I do. I probably wouldn't have come tonight if you hadn't insisted. I know I'm stubborn when it comes to my father. There's a lot of pain there, but everyone was right tonight. It's time to forgive and forget."
"I'm proud of you." Wooyoung lifted his head up so he could meet Jongho's eyes. "I know it takes a lot to do that, especially after what happened to your mom." Pain flickered across Jongho's face and Wooyoung immediately cupped his cheek. "But they love you. Your... San's mom... Wouldn't have accused me of things if she wasn't worried about you."
Jongho nodded and pulled Wooyoung back so that his head was once again on Jongho's shoulder. "I know. I do think they like you though, Father opened up to you quickly."
"Yeah, well, we will see what happens in the long run." Wooyoung laughed nervously. "He's definitely intimidated so I have a feeling I'm always going to have to be on point around them."
"Honestly? I have no idea." Jongho chuckled. "Neither San or I have brought someone home to meet them before."
"Oh." Wooyoung paused. "So... I was the first boyfriend for both of you. This just keeps getting better."
The younger turned his head so that he could kiss Wooyoung's cheek then turned his head so their cheeks were pressed together. "Don't stress about it babe, like I said, I think they like you. Nothing about how our relationship started is normal."
No truer words could have been spoken. At least they would have a good story to share in the further.
A few hours later, when the party was starting to die down, Jongho found his parents and San to let them know that they were going to leave for the night.
"You're not driving back are you?" San's eyes widened. "The storm has only gotten worse, I won't allow you to."
"We were actually going to ask you about staying here." Wooyoung said, flashing a shy smile.
"You never have to ask for that. Come on, I'll let reception know to set you up with one of my rooms I keep reserved at all times for guests. You too, Mom and Dad." San ushered them out of the ballroom and over to the main reception desk.
Two women were sitting behind it holding a plate of food and listening to Christmas music on the radio. Wooyoung recognized them from the party and guessed they must have gone part time while the desk was manned by someone else.
"Hello ladies, can I get a couple of my keys please?" San leaned against the desk.
"Sure!" One of the hopped up and went to a cabinet that they had to unlock. "Oh, and Yeosang came by and wanted me to tell you that he is wa—"
"Oh, yes. Thank you." San cleared his throat. "I'll just go find him when I'm done here." He tapped the desk nervously.
"Find him for what?" Jongho asked, tilting his head to the side. "It's your Christmas party, you can't seriously be working tonight."
