Wooyoung's recovery progressed slowly. They had to take extra precautions to make sure that he wasn't exposed to anything that would make him sick since his immune system was having to focus so hard on the transplant.
San, Jongho, and Pierre had to go through a disinfecting routine every time they entered the building, which San complained about the most, but only because he was the one who had to do it more.
Jongho still hardly left the office except on weekends. He would take the occasional call from his employees when they needed to ask him something, but no one asked him to come back to the farm and help out.
He said part of it was because they were slowly moving to their off season with fall and winter coming. They still had a few big crops they would push out, especially corn, but other than that things would start slowly calming down. He would never truly get time off, same with most of the workers, since the animals still needed to be cared for, but it was like a vacation to him.
Wooyoung couldn't wait to go back there. There were so many things he wanted to do now. A large list was forming in his mind that he was determined to complete.
After all he'd been through... Surviving cancer... Dying... Wooyoung didn't want to waist another second of the precious life he had been given.
That was why he was so ready to get out of here.
More than anything, he wanted to reconnect with Jongho outside of a hospital room.
The younger always got really shy whenever Wooyoung brought it up, even mentioning once that he never did anything after their last time together.
At first the words stung, but Wooyoung quickly tossed that aside. They had promised each other that they wouldn't let the miscommunication from the past ruin their future together.
San had given them his full blessing, once again reiterating that he knew he was being selfish and hadn't truly sat down to consider Wooyoung's feelings in all this.
Which sparked Wooyoung to argue with him and tell him that it wasn't all like that and he truly did enjoy their time together.
Jongho had been upset at first when he realized San had proposed. Both San and Wooyoung had to reassure him several times that Wooyoung had never said yes and that nothing came of it.
Once San had left that day Jongho made a point to climb into bed with Wooyoung and wrap very possessive arms around him for the rest of the day.
Wooyoung didn't protest once.
He felt so safe and protected when he was Jongho. It was something he had been searching for his entire life.
When the countdown started for when Jongho could look at taking him home, Wooyoung started to get antsy.
They were taking walks around the office every day to work his legs and start building some muscle mass, and Wooyoung was slowly gaining some weight back, but his medication still made him incredibly nauseous.
Jongho had to keep an arm wrapped around his waist the entire time he walked otherwise he felt like he was going to collapse.
When this had started, Wooyoung got a concept for just how much weight he had lost.
Skin and bones was almost the perfect way to describe it.
Dr. Fields had urged him not to stress too much about it, but it was so unsettling for Wooyoung to know that if he lifted up his shirt he could see the outline of his ribs. Jongho could also almost wrap his hand entirely around Wooyoung's calf.
