It was the day before new years eve, around seven in the afternoon, when Daehyun got up from the sofa, where he and Youngjae had been sitting.

"Jae, I'm going to tell mom. I just can't let her start another year with this idiot."

Youngjae nodded. "Okay. Should I come with you?"

"I'm not sure... I think you better stay here. Don't wanna make you uncomfortable."

Youngjae nodded and watched as the older left the room. Daehyun had seemed really nervous and Youngjae could fully understand him. Although he had never been in this situation, but he was really good in telling how others felt, especially since he had spent rather a lot of time with Daehyun since the class trip.

Waiting for the older, he was also pretty nervous for how this would turn out.

It took Daehyun almost thirty minutes to come back and when he did, Youngjae could not quite tell what the look on his face meant.

The older let himself sink back onto the sofa, before closing his eyes with a sigh.

"How did it go?" Youngjae eventually asked quietly.

"It was okay. She told me she had already been suspecting he was hiding something... She said I did the right thing by telling her. I think she'll be alright." Daehyun gave his friend a light smile. "She's still got us after all."

Youngjae let his eyes wander to the ground, not knowing how to react to the last sentence. It had already gotten a lot better, he was less and less insecure around Daehyun the more time they spent together, but right now he had been caught off guard.

Daehyun did not seem to mind that Youngjae didn't answer, he got up and went to grab his guitar before lying down on the bed, starting to play. It was a slow melody, light and calm, but Youngjae felt as if there was something else, he just could not put his finger on what it was.

He looked at Daehyun, the latter had his eyes closed and seemed completely lost in the music he was creating.

Youngjae went over to the bed as well, lying down on his side, next to Daehyun, looking at the older. "How long have you been playing the guitar?"

"Hm... I think for about six years? Something like that."

"I wanted to learn it when I was a child, but my parents always told me it was too hard for me."

"That's stupid. I mean sure, it might be hard in the beginning but everything is. I can teach you if you want."

Youngjae nodded and Daehyun sat up, handing the boy the guitar.

They spent about two hours with the instrument, Daehyun showing the younger a few chords, playing a few songs himself in between. Youngjae liked it, he felt that Daehyun believed he could do it, unlike his parents who never believed in him.

"I think you're a natural, Jae. You're learning fast." Daehyun grinned as they put the guitar away when they got too tired.

"My fingers hurt..." Youngjae mumbled, but it wasn't a complaint, just  a fact he was stating.

"Yeah, that's normal. They'll stop doing that when you get used to it." Daehyun wrapped his arm around the other boy's shoulders. "By the way, JaeJae. I-" He stopped talking when he heard his father's car in the driveway and got up. Youngjae followed the other boy to the hallway, where they stayed at the upper end of the staircase, listening to what was going on downstairs.

The front door opened, closed, and then there were steps moving through the house, until a "Hello darling, sorry I had to work longer." could be heard from the kitchen. Obviously, his father had no idea that his wife knew where he had really been.

"Stop this. I know you weren't working, I called your boss. Don't think you can play with me like this anymore." Daehyun's mother said. "You can go right back to where you're coming from, I don't want to see you here anymore."

A few seconds of silence went by, until the man answered. "I don't know what you're talking about."

"Oh shut up!"

Daehyun looked at Youngjae, looking surprised. "Wow, she never said that to anyone in my whole life" he whispered. "Now he should know it's serious."

"I know exactly where you were and what you did, so get out of here! You're bringing negativity into this house with your actions and I will not tolerate that. Daehyun deserves a father who is truly there for the family. Not like you, cheater."

"But honey, I-"

"Do not call me that again. I'm sick of your games, there's no point in denying it, I know that you're having an affair with that colleague of yours. Go and stay at her place, I can't see your face anymore."
