Accross the hall

David's pov
"Hey" I smiled, waving at the new girl who'd just moved in across the hall, she was moving boxes into her house and looking like she was struggling a little "hi" she replied putting down a box and waving back "you're new?" I asked, knowing the answer to my question, yet asking it anyways "yeah, I guess" she replied smiling and shrugging, she was adorable"David" I said holding out my hand "Liza" she smiled shaking my hand "do you need any help?" I asked, she was just managing but two sets of hands are always better than one "that would be so helpful, are you sure?" She asked "of course" I replied opening up my door and throwing my bag into my apartment before turning back to her, the boxes were labelled with the rooms they had to go in so I helped her to move them and then she unpacked some of the kitchen, living room and bedroom stuff just so she had enough to live from for today. "You want to just get takeout and hang at my place or something?" I asked her "are you sure? I feel like I've already taken up so much of your day" she said to me "no it's okay, I'm assuming you don't have any food in and what's the point paying double the delivery charge for you getting something at your place and me getting something at my place?" I said smiling "you're smart" she said shutting her door and walking over to my apartment, she went inside and sat down on a sofa "it's really nice in here" she said to me admiring my place "thanks" I replied "do you just live here alone?" She asked me "nah my friend Alex lives here too but he goes back to Minnesota where his family live for like a week or sometimes two usually every month so I'm alone here quite a lot" I replied, she nodded and we discussed what food we wanted to order, we both chose pizza, as we waited for it to arrive we had some time to kill so we kept talking "so tell me about you" I said shrugging, making conversation "well I'm 21, I used to live in Houston Texas, like Beyoncé, but I decided I wanted to move here for a fresh start and really I'm so glad you said hi to me because you're the only person I know here" she replied, it made me smile "I'm glad you were the one to move in across the hall, not some boring person or something" I replied "yeah I'm glad I moved in opposite you" she replied, I just got so lucky.

"I'm back!" I heard Alex call, Liza immediately moved along on the sofa so she wasn't as close to me as she had been "hey dude, how's it going?" I asked getting up and hugging him "yeah good, you brought a girl home?" He asked "oh no, this is Liza, she moved in across  the hall we're friends" I told him, I mean it was mostly true, meeting Liza a week and a half ago was crazy, I've never become so close someone in so little time, we have movie nights almost every single night but we do cuddle up and stuff and that's what I love about it, just spending time and being close to her. "Nice to meet you" Alex said to her smiling "nice to meet you too" she replied back, she looked like a deer caught in the headlights, we'd been watching movies and cuddling together for a whole week but nobody had ever caught us yet and I think we both now realised it looked little weird to other people. "Okay I'm gonna go unpack" Alex said sensing the awkwardness and going to his room "I think I'm going to go back to my place too" she said getting up "do you have to?" I asked grabbing her hand as she walked away, she turned back and smiled at our linked hands "spend time with Alex he just got back, you can come over to my place tonight if you want to, my tv works now the guy came yesterday, you can bring Alex too if he wants to come" she said to me "I'll let him know he's invited, see you tonight" I said to her, she smiled and let go of my hand walking out. Why am I so madly in love with her?

"What are your intentions with that Liza?" Alex asked sitting down on the couch beside me "what do you mean intentions?" I asked "she's not going to sleep with you" he said "what!?" I asked "well is that not your intention?" He asked "no, not at all she's so sweet and nice and we're just friends" I replied "oh okay" he said "dude Minnesota changed you this time" I said to him laughing "I honestly thought that that was your intention" he laughed "not directly" I replied raising my eyebrows "that's my man" Alex said fist bumping me "oh, by the way Liza invited us over to watch a movie later" I said to Alex "I'd love to but I'm kind of going out tonight sorry dude, enjoy though" he said "don't worry I will" I replied.
