October bled into November and I was ready for the spring and summer, I hated the holidays they were my least favorite time of year because they served as a constant reminder of when I lost my parents and brother. I stopped myself from thinking about that... right now I had more pressing things to worry about, like what Jace had found out about Tyree and I knew he had found something because he looked like he was just bursting to tell me but was adamant that 'it wasn't his place'. Since it was going to take a while to get him to talk I focused on my most important mission, that being Diante Richmond; I was starting to figure out his schedule and I had it mostly memorized. During the day he chilled in his apartment only leaving to go to the store.... but at night is when things got interesting; he always gets picked up by the same car and taken to a mansion about an hour or two outside of the city. What took place in that mansion I wasn't sure but whenever he left he was always limping and he always had a satisfied look on his face. That was the only mystery I hadn't figured out yet, I knew where his brothers slept, I knew his parent's location, I even knew about the secret he was hiding from everybody... that was my trump card. I was so focused on revenge that I didn't have time to react as a football came flying towards my face until it was too late.
"Where's your head at Idris?" Avery asked running over to me with the shadow of a smile dancing on his face. "Nigga, I called your name like three times while the ball was in the air and you kinda zoned out." He said as I held my nose, the warm blood trickling through my fingers.
"I was.... thinking. Has Jace been over to the house?" I asked knowing that if he had, there was a possibility that I could get some answers from Josiah because unlike Jace he had no problem telling peoples secrets... for a price.
"Nah, he hasn't which is weird because usually him and Josiah spend hours talking about the most random shyt." Avery said, Avery was the newest dude in the group home so naturally we gravitated towards each other because everyone else already had previously formed connections. "You were thinking about K'Lynn again weren't you?" Avery asked.
"I can't help it... it's like she was my best friend, my first friend and somewhere those feelings became something stronger and seeing her with that nigga KNOWING he's doing something he shouldn't.... I don't wanna see her get hurt." I said taking off my beater and using it to clean up some of the blood.
"Idris, maybe if you put half the effort that you put into following Diante into finding out what Tyree has going on you would've been figured it out. My whole thing is, do you really wanna be the nigga that exposes what he's got going on? Because I've seen it plenty of times, you expose dude and instead of K'Lynn coming to you like you think... she'll hate all men. Let the shyt happen naturally." Avery said and I shrugged, he really didn't understand what I was going through.
"No....." Jace said as I knocked on his door, how he even knew that it was me always amazed me. I had just finished cleaning my face and thankfully it looked like my nose wasn't swelling up. "Idris, I like you.... but I'm staying out of this one, don't ask me why I have my own personal reasons just know that everything will come out on its own time. Now I have some questions for you now sit......" He said turning around and pointing to a chair.
"Idris you have a guest." Mrs. Grant said walking into Jace's room and I could see him turning bright red, I quickly got up and ran out the room and because I knew Jace was about to go nuclear on her because he strictly forbade Mrs. Grant from coming into his room..... I got downstairs and K'Lynn was waiting, I started to smile but quickly it faded because I.....
"Do you have your wallet?" K'Lynn asked and I checked my pockets. "Good we're going out to eat, let's go." She said looping her arm through mine and leading me out of the house. We didn't go anywhere special... at least it didn't seem special but Steak N' Shake always held a special place for me and K'Lynn because this is where we had our first 'date'. "Let me guess.... Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Milkshake?" K'Lynn asked smiling.
