I tossed and turned all night. My dreams vividly dancing behind my eyelids.
Some were good dreams, others were not so nice. When I woke Friday morning I felt groggy from a restless sleep. I stayed in bed for awhile taking my time to stretch and feel my muscles respond.
After lazing in bed the fog cleared from my mind and I remembered about the party tonight that Tom is having. I hung my head in my hands trying to cover the silly grin that came over me when I thought about him.
Cmon Rhylee get a grip.. I thought to myself. I wasn't usually the type to get all giddy and silly over a guy, but then again it had been awhile since anyone had caught my eye.
I picked up my phone from my bed side table and as the screen came to life I had several notifications and texts.
I scanned my emails quickly, checked some of the other notifications and responded to messages. The most recent text was from Tom, telling me the address and the time to arrive.
8pm felt like a life time away.. I busied myself with Archies breakfast and my own.
I sat at the small dining table and opened some of my mail, mostly boring things like bills and I had a look through a catalog.
I checked the time again and was disappointed to see only half an hour had gone by.. this day was going to drag on, I could feel it.
I tried to keep myself occupied by doing jobs around the house. I managed to put the flat pack desk together with only one minor fit of anger when I couldn't get the drawers together properly.
I moved from room to room fixing things or putting things in different places until I felt happy with the lay of the room.
I had paused for a quick lunch break sometime during the day. I was trying to stay off my phone so I wouldn't keep checking the time. My grumbling stomach was the only indicator that it was getting later in the arvo.
By the time I had finished messing around with things in my house, it was 6pm and I started to get myself ready. I showered quickly, keeping my hair dry.
I plugged in my curler and began adding some loose curls to my hair. My hair was naturally pretty wavy but I liked to add some more with a curling iron to add more texture and depth.
I pulled my outfit from the closest and picked a pair of heels that would match.
It was an off the shoulder mostly white playsuit with light pink and dark navy flowers decorating the material. The shoes were an almost perfect match to the navy flowers on the playsuit.
I sat down at my vanity and began applying my makeup, pushing my hair from my face with a headband so it wouldn't get stuck to my makeup.
I did my go to makeup for a night out and finished my look with a pinky nude lipstick that complimented my outfit.
I grabbed my peachy coloured handbag and added my phone, keys, lipstick, and purse snapping the clasp shut and leaving it near my shoes. I spritzed myself with my all time favourite perfume, YSL Babydoll.
Checking myself over in the mirror, I was really happy with my appearance. I felt beautiful, my outfit accentuated my figure and the colours of my makeup and playsuit worked cohesively.
I slipped into my tall shoes and grabbed my bag heading downstairs. I had found the number of a local car ride service and booked a driver to take me to the address Tom had texted to me.
I let Archie out to the backyard once more calling him back inside after grabbing the bottle of Jack Daniels chilling in the fridge.
It felt strange showing up to a party with no gift so I ducked out to the liquor store earlier today and bought a bottle of whiskey. To be fair, it was my favourite drink so I was bound to pick something I enjoyed too. I also bought a navy and silver striped present bag, not wanting to hand it over in a brown paper bag when I arrived.
A messaged chimed on my phone telling me the driver was at the front door. I said good bye to my loving dog and picked up a coat on my way out. I locked the door behind me and greeted my driver.
I rattled off the address and sat in the back seat my legs bouncing nervously, my hands getting warm in my lap. I was trying to have a pep talk with myself that I needed to calm down and relax, that I'd have fun tonight and enjoy myself.
Before long we had arrived at the destination. I paid the driver and wished him a good night. Collecting my handbag and the whiskey I shimmied out of the car closing the door behind me.
I left myself in through the small black gate at the front of the property. As I walked up the path to the front door I could hear the faint sounds of music coming from inside.
Taking the steps up to the front door, I checked my lipstick in the small compact mirror I carried in my bag. I pressed a finger to the door bell and smoothed down my outfit and waited for someone to answer.
One of Toms younger brothers opened the door and greeted me with a smile.
"Hey, I'm Rhylee. We met the other day" I spoke, unsure if Harry remembered me or not.
"Oh hey! Come on in" He stated while opening the door wide enough for me to step inside.
The house was decorated modestly with some paintings hanging from the wall. To the right was an open room with a comfy looking black lounge taking up most of the space. There was a few people sat around the couch chatting and sipping on drinks.
A few paces inside the front door was a stair case leading up to was I assumed would be bedrooms and the like. To the left, sat a glass dining table with chairs and up a small hallway I could see a island bench and the silver doors of a fridge.
Harry introduced me to the small group of people in the lounge room who from the looks of it were mostly his friends.
"Follow me, Tom's in the kitchen" He said after I greeted his friends.
We took the path leading up towards the kitchen and I noticed a well stocked bar cart beside the counter. I was glad to see the booze I bought wasn't going to go to waste.
Tom was leaning against the counter his back to me. He was wearing a dark navy jacket that suited him well.
"Tom"
"Looks whose here" Harry said with a smirk on his face.
