Chapter 56

Tom and I stepped out of the warm restaurant and were met with a cold blast of wind. I crossed my arms over myself trying to keep warm. Tom was rubbing his hands together and blowing warm air into them.

"Which way?" I asked looking each way down the street.

"Follow me" He said as he draped an arm around my shoulder pulling me in. We walked side by side, huddled together trying to chase off the cold.

Strolling down the street together for a few minutes before Tom slowed and pulled up to a pub. He pulled the door open for me as I slipped inside. The warmth felt like a welcoming hug and I felt my shoulders fall, losing their tension from being scrunched up. The cozy feeling pub was packed with people, many laughing heartily with their respective groups. Some people sitting quietly while watching sports on the small tvs dotted around the room.

"Can I get you a drink?" Tom asked as we headed towards the bar.

"Nope, it's my turn to pay" I said, cocking my eyebrow at him. He laughed at my expression and nodded his head in defeat.

"What'll you have?" The bartender called to us over the music.

"Can I get a Canadian Club Dry and.." I trailed off looking at Tom.

"A Heineken please" He said to the bartender. She turned her back and grabbed out drinks, flicking the caps off quickly. I paid the total and we took our beverages to an empty pool table.

I took a few sips of my drink before putting the bottle down on a coaster at the closest table. Peeling my jacket off I hung it over the back of the seat.

Tom had already done the same and was racking up the pool balls. I took a cue and rubbed some chalk over the tip, pretending like I knew what I was doing.

My hand eye coordination was severely lacking and I knew I was going to get my ass whupped.

A few of the attendees flicked their gaze to us momentarily, before returning to their own business.

"Ladies first, so you can break" Tom said with a cheeky grin.

"Oh yeah.. sure" I muttered wondering how much of an idiot I was going to make of myself. I took my spot at the end of the table, positioning my hand on the green fuzzy surface and lined up my cue. With a quick and firm strike, I sent the white ball hurtling towards the rest of the pack.
The balls rolled around in all directions of the table and I even managed to pocket two. One of each kind.

"Hmm I call bigs, go big or go home right?" I said snickering at my lame joke. Tom chuckled along with me and I stood on the other side of the pool table, lining up for my next shot. The booze in my system was starting to kick in and I felt a surge of flirtatious behaviour.

I leant further over the pool table, subtly pushing my chest out so Tom had a clear view of my cleavage from opposite the table. I looked up at him, he was staring at me with this little smirk on his mouth. I sent him a wink before taking my shot.
In my attempt to be flirty, I didn't adjust my cue and the white ball fell short of potting anything. I groaned and hung my head, before shaking it off and standing up straight again.

Tom was walking down the side of the table and as he passed me, he pinched my ass lightly before setting up his shot. I tried to mask the girly little squeak I made but failed when I saw the look on Tom's face.

Moving up the table, I stood with one hand resting on the wooden edge and one leg crossed in front of the other. Tom raised his glance to mine and cocked an eyebrow before hitting the cue ball perfectly. He kept his eyes on mine the whole time he took the shot.

I turned to our table to have some more of my drink and Tom was by my side in a few seconds.

"Nice shot" I said, trying to play it cool.
"I know what you were doing love" He said lowly brushing my ear lobe with his lips before kissing my cheek. I turned my head quickly and caught his lips with mine, his hands landing on my hips as I kissed him. When I pulled away I could feel my heart starting to race and my skin heating up. I shivered slightly at the way my body reacted to him so obviously.
