I woke up to the sound of Archie scratching at my bedroom door.

"Hang on Arch" I called out to him as I scooted out of bed. It felt particularly cold this morning so I wrapped my robe around me tightly and pulled my door open.

Archie was sat waiting for me and his tail started wagging at lightening speed. I had slept in a bit today and Archies knocking on my door was his way of telling me it was time for breakfast.

We headed downstairs together and I poured his breakfast biscuits into his bowl. He started to wolf those down and I topped up his water as well.

After refilling the kettle with water, I flicked it on and ducked back upstairs to grab my phone while the water was boiling.

I pulled a mug from the cupboard and added a tea bag and some sugar. The kettle made a click sound to signal the water was boiled and I grabbed some milk from the fridge.

Leaving the teabag to brew for a few minutes I popped some bread into the toaster and returned to the fridge for some butter and Vegemite.

I grabbed a clean plate and butter knife and set them on the bench next to my tea. The toaster beeped at me and I grabbed the slices and quickly chucked them on the plate, after buttering them I added a thin layer of Vegemite.

I always thought most people did Vegemite wrong, they added way too much and not enough butter. The trick was loads of butter and a little Vegemite.

Curling up on the couch with my breakfast and tea, I switched the tv on selecting a top 50 music channel. After checking the weather report I dressed myself in warm work out gear and laced my shoes up.

"Arccchhiieee" I called out with a whistle. I heard his paws scamper along the dark wooden floors. Jumping up at me showing me how excited he was to go for a walk.

The keys jingled as I turned them in the lock, securing the door closed. I took off in a run towards the park and Archie kept up with me easily. The gardens and fields were a lush shade of green after recent rain and everything looked so healthy.

A few quick laps of the running track and Archie and I were both ready to head home. I needed to do a major grocery shop at some stage today and Stacey was coming over tonight for dinner & drinks.

In my head I mentally put together a shopping list on the walk home and when we got in, I jotted it all down on my phone.

Archie was sprawled out on the floor, exhausted after our outing. I took the stairs leading to my room two at a time, reaching the door quickly. Showering relatively fast, I returned to my closet and picked out a pair of black jeans, and a emerald green sweater that had a twist knot at the front to give it some texture.

I picked out some plain white converse, and added my phone and purse to a cross body bag. Twirling my hair into a low bun, I teased out some pieces at the front to add some framing around my face. Swiping on a layer of lip balm and popping my lips in satisfaction, I tossed my phone and wallet into my bag and headed off out.

After a quick walk, I reached the closest bus stop and waited for it to arrive. Shortly after, the bus I needed to catch pulled up in front of the stop after signalling the driver. The doors creaked open, and I could feel the heating of the bus instantly. Swiping my travel card, I took a seat next to an elderly lady, smiling briefly as I sat down. The bus trundled down the road, making a few stops along the way as passengers boarded and exited the bus.

I'd been riding the bus for about twenty minutes so far, and I could see my destination up ahead. Pushing the bell button, I stood from my seat and waited for the bus to slow. My travel card was deducted the fair of the journey and as I stepped off the bus the cold air was nipping at my skin.
