Story summary: Anne and Gilbert have been dating and Gilbert says the I love you first and Anne gets shook about it

Anne and Gilbert have been dating for at least 9 months and they were out of a date. Gilbert has arranged a nice picnic for his And Anne's 9 month anniversary.

"Gilbert I can't believe you did all this," said Anne Gilbert looked at Anne and stroked her face

"Well you better believe it because this is how much I care for you," said Gilbert, this made Anne madly blush "Anne... I feel like I need to say this but.... I love you," said Gilbert

After Gilbert said that Anne froze, she doesn't know what love is, well except from marilla and Matthew but by a guy, this was big

Meanwhile Gilbert was freaking out on the inside and sweating on the outside since Anne wasn't saying anything

"Anne... are you going to say something?" Asked Gilbert

Anne got out of her frozen state

"Gilbert I- need more time to think about this I'm sorry," said Anne as she went to get up leaving Gilbert dumbfounded

Meanwhile the next day Anne arrives at school with Diana and the girls

"Wait. Gilbert said the L word?" Asked Diana

"As in love?" Asked Josie

Anne nodded

"Yep and I don't know how I feel about it... honestly I'm insecure about that topic because I've never really experienced love before except from marilla and Matthew," said Anne

"Anne tell him how you feel," said Tillie

"I am so telling the whole school," said Jane as she walked away

"Just let me think about it," said Anne then she left

It was the end of the school day and Anne was at her locker getting her stuff out to place in her sunflower backpack. When she went to shut her locker there stood Gilbert

"Ah! Gilbert you scared me," said Anne as she placed a hand on her chest, Gilbert giggled

"Sorry, anyway did you think about what I said?" Asked Gilbert

"Gilbert I need a little more time," said Anne

"But I want us to go steady I mean... your smart I'm smart," said Gilbert

"Gilbert I don't think anyone uses steady anymore," laughed Anne "I just need a little more time, when I'm ready I'll give you a call got it?" Asked Anne

Gilbert smiled and nodded

"Ok," said Gilbert

Anne smiled and kissed Gilbert on the cheek and left

It was nighttime and Gilbert was eager to get an answer from Anne, does she not love him? Did he say it wrong? After he had enough he got off his bed and threw on some clothes and he was on his way to green gables

Meanwhile Anne was sitting in her room thinking about those three words, I love you, what a big word and a big step. Surely Anne has loved Gilbert ever since they first met 9 months ago, Meanwhile Anne heard a click at her window, so Anne walked to her window and pushed it open, it was Gilbert standing there with roses

"Anne I really need to know, do you truly have feelings for me?" Asked Gilbert

"Gilbert get in here it's cold out there," said Anne Gilbert followed Anne orders and walked inside

While Gilbert was heading inside Anne went to get her shoes on and jacket then she went downstairs to meet Gilbert

As she walked downstairs she saw Gilbert standing there so he hands her the roses and Anne sets them down on the table

"I'll put these in the vase later," said Anne

"So where's Matthew and Marilla?" Asked Gilbert

"Oh they are out of town for some conference," said Anne

"And you didn't go with them?" Asked Gilbert

"I would but I have school you know," laughed Anne Gilbert laughed along

"Hey do you maybe want to go on a walk?" Asked Gilbert

"Sure!" Said Anne

Gilbert walked to the door and opened the door for Anne while Anne linked arms with him

As they were walking through the trail they were holding hand swinging them back and forth

"Anne I need to know," said Gilbert

"Know what?"

"If you love me, I can't go a day without thinking you don't love me," said Gilbert

After Gilbert said this Anne looked at Gilbert like he was crazy

"Gilbert, I don't have trouble saying it, it's just I was just... insecure about it," said Anne Gilbert went to hug anne tight making Anne confused

"Gilbert. What are you doing?" Asked Anne

Gilbert pulled away

"Making you feel loved, believe me I love you and I will never stop do you understand?" Asked Gilbert

Anne Smiled and nodded

"I love you to Gilbert," said Anne then she went in to kiss Gilbert

Sorry if this is crappy but I'm thinking about writing a different Shirbert story called we meet again, I don't know much about it but I'll let you guys know when it comes out ok bye
