Coming into the darkness (Dance With Devils x reader)

Chapter 3

Y/n POV

I wake up to something licking my face. I giggle and open my eyes, seeing Roen was the one licking my face. "Roen! Stop, that tickles!" I yell, giggling after before picking him up off my face, sitting up and putting him on my lap.

My hand pets his head, while I smile down at the small Pomeranian. I look up when I hear the door open, seeing my sister coming into the room. "Roen, make sure these idiots don't do anything to her, and I'll go find Rem."

"I wish you didn't trust Rem so much Ritsuka. We can't just trust him because he said he'd help you find your mom." I tell Ritsuka, taking a bite of the food in the middle of the limo.

"Come on Y/n, what do you have against Rem?" Ritsuka asks, not taking a single bite of the delicious food.

"Nothing, now eat." Is all I say to her question.

"I must agree with Y/n, it's good to eat properly, especially at times like these." Rem says, causing me to look at him.

"Azuna said something like that earlier." She then looks at Rem. Ritsuka takes a bite of the food, and a smile appears on her face. "It's  delicious. You've done so much for us, thank you." My head snaps towards Ritsuka, my eyes giving her a dirty look.

"I haven't done anything that deserves your graditude." Rem responds, me nodding my head in agreement to his words.

"But because of us, you had to go out of your way yesterday, and then today as well. I'm unbelievably grateful."

Rem looks away, and I notice Ritsuka open her mouth to talk again, so I interrupted her. "Ritsuka, why don't we just eat. After all, this food is amazing." She looks at me, then back at Rem who was digging the mushrooms out of his sushi.

"You don't like mushrooms?" She asks, and I mentally facepalm.

Rem pauses before answering her question. "I don't exactly hate them. I just don't since they're a gross fungus that grows on trees." My eyes widen at his response.

"Really? That's exactly why Y/n doesn't like mushrooms." I glare at Ritsuka again.

"Ritsuka! Just eat your food!" I say loudly. My eyes meet Rem's for a second before avert my eyes and take another bite of the food. I quickly spit the food out onto a napkin realizing that it was the sushi that had the mushrooms in it.

After a long car ride, we finally arrive at bridge leading to Ritsuka's Grandpa's house. I hurry out of the car and stretch my legs. Ritsuka passes me and Rem and I follow her. Having to stare at Rem's back isn't easy when you hate him, but I managed to get through it. "I can't believe you and Lindo were able to live out here, not to mention your grandpa." I say out loud, breaking the silence.

I huff out in annoyance when there's no response. I close my eyes for a second, and that's when I run into Rem's back. "Hey, why did you... Stop..." I look past him and see the house, in shambles like Ritsuka's was that day.

Ritsuka attempts to go into the house, but Rem stops her. "Careful. The culprit could still be inside."

"Agreed, which is why I'll be protecting you, Ritsuka." I say. "You'll also be going inside first." I push Rem in the door before grabbing Ritsuka's wrist and following him.

I look around the house, everything was a mess. My attention to Ritsuka when she runs off to look for her mom. "Ritsuka, I don't think your mom's here..." I say, putting my hand on her shoulder.

Rem also puts a hand on her shoulder, getting the attention of both of us. He raises up an item in his hand, revealing a cellphone. "That's mom's!" Ritsuka exclaims, taking it out of Rem's hand.

As she holds onto the phone, Rem tells Ritsuka that everything will be ok. Even so, I have a feeling something bad is going to happen, and soon.

I decide to check the kitchen for anything I could use as a weapon so I don't give myself away to Ritsuka. As I enter the kitchen, I feel someone grab me from behind. "Let me-" I try shouting, but my mouth is covered. I guess I have no choice but to let loose.

As I'm about to use my ice powers, I feel a pain in my back. The vampire that grabbed me from behind had stabbed me.

"Y/n?!" I hear Ritsuka yell.

The guy who had stabbed me let me go and went to grab Ritsuka. I try to use my ice powers, but the normal ice shards don't seem to show up, instead small snowflakes showed up. What's going on?!

As I was about to get up and charge, Rem kicks the guy holding Ritsuka. He grabs Ritsuka and puts and arm around her, looking over at me as he does so. "Get Y/n and get out of here." He says, pushing her over to me.

Ritsuka helps me up and I look at her and then at Rem. "You idiot! I can fight too!"

"No you can't, now get out of here!" He yells. My blood started to boil from how weak he thought I was, but he was right, I can't fight right now, so I let Ritsuka take me outside. When outside, Ritsuka sits me down and pulls out her phone. As she dials something on her phone, probably 911, I pull out the danger in my back and throw it in the fire. I giggle thinking about how the vampires would all someday perish before closing my eyes.
