Ritsuka, Azuna and I headed into the ballroom, where we were handed orange drinks.
"I'm lost. What is this king and queen stuff their talking about?" Ritsuka ask.
"Yeah, I'm curious too."
"Oh, right, I forgot to tell you. In one of the women's glasses, there's a crown, and the same goes for one of the men's." Azuna explains.
The three of us look around at the disappointed girls. "If your glass has the crown, you become the queen, the star of the entire evening. You even share a romantic dance infront of everyone."
"What if they don't know each other?" Ritsuka asks.
"Tough. It's a really old festival tradition." I look at my glass and start drinking it. "Chill Y/n, there's no way you'll get it your first year."
When I finish the drink, at the bottom of my glass is a crown. "This can't be possible, the odds are very slim! Someone's playing a trick on me, right?!" I ask Azuna, panicking. I didn't want to be center stage.
I look around and my gaze stop on the three student council members that were here already, Urie, Mage and Shiki, who were all in which drinking their grape drinks, two in which became disappointed to find out their glass was empty. My eyes widen, seeing that Shiki had the other crown.
I mentally sulk as I was going to have to dance with a creep like Shiki, which was really bothersome. Suddenly we're surrounded by the other students, and I could hear Azuna yell out. The other students had dragged us to the thrones, and I just sat there with a bored expression on my face. I wasn't actually bored, instead I was mentally panicking, but I was just acting to throw everyone off.
The music for Shiki and my dance had started and I heard Shiki sit up from his seat. When I went to look towards Shiki, Shiki grabbed my hand. "Come on, let's dance. It will be fun, and you won't have any regrets."
It's not like I have a choice, as I was dragged into the dance floor. "Wait, I don't know how to dance!" I say, panic in my voice.
"Follow my lead and the two of us shall become one." Once again, Shiki's words have sent shivers up my spine.
"Did you really need to phrase it that way?" Shiki just smiles in response, causing me to puff out my cheeks.
The two of us start dancing, Shiki taking the lead and me following his lead. My mind flashes back to when the two of us were at the fountain in the school's garden.
"Shiki."
"Yes, Y/n?"
"It's nothing, I was just remembering what you had said a while back. When you had told me that we were more alike than I had thought." I pause. "The more I think about what you said, the more I realize that you were right. But if that's the case, than you feel as lonely as I do, feeling as if you don't belong anywhere, but I know that's not true."
"You say that, yet you have no proof."
"Yes I do. You aren't alone because you have the student council, even if they do tease you, you're one of them and there's a reason they can even stand to be near you."
Shiki seems surprised by what I had said. "But I guess I'm not as lonely as I was before. After all, I have have you to talk to when even I feel that way."
The music stops, but Shiki and I had stopped long before it has. Fireworks could be heard in the background, and the two of us were staring into each other's eyes.
Then it hits me, I was staring. I look away from Shiki, my cheeks heat up. The words I had said before come back to me and my cheeks heat up even more. Why did I say all that.
"You're a good dancer! I think I should hurry up and go now before Lindo gets mad and drags me off!" I quickly run away, leaving the ballroom.
