Coming into the darkness (Dance With Devils x reader)

Chapter 6

Y/n POV

The next day after Ritsuka had sneaked out of the house, and here we are, in the cafeteria. Lindo was surrounded by other students as he had transferred. "I guess this is for the best." I say. Although I didn't truly mean it, it was better than one of the devils getting Ritsuka while I was still weak. Don't get me wrong, most of my powers are back, but in this state, I could easily be beaten by them and they could run off with Ritsuka. Maybe if I'm lucky, I can convince Lindo I'm strong enough to defend her when my powers have fully returned.

"Yeah." Ritsuka says. "I still can't believe all that stuff happened yesterday."

"Maybe we should keep quiet about that while in public. Who knows who's listening." If the devils got notice of what happened and who was the cause of it, Roen would end up being kicked out of their ranks, making things harder for us.

"Hey guys." Azuna walks over to us. "I can't believe how popular your brother is, Ritsuka."

"Yeah yeah, it's unbelievable, seeing as how much he nags us. Can we go sit down and eat?" I say, trying to keep my annoyance get through. As long as Lindo was here, I can't snatch the Grimoire from him.

Back in class, I take notes when I hear a crash from the next classroom over. My eyes widen when I realize it's Ritsuka's classroom and I run off, not bothering to listen to my teacher's yells.

In Ritsuka's class, I see Mage, grabbing Ritsuka, and getting ready to jump out of the window. I quickly follow, jumping out of the window and grabbing my sister's wrist. "Ritsuka! Y/n!" Azuna yells.

I look up, and see nothing but the sky. I then look down and see that we're on Tokyo tower. "I knew you'd come following us." Mage says. I glare at the said devil. "Calm down, there's no needs to be feisty."

"You kidnapped Ritsuka and teleported us up to the top of Tokyo tower, a place where Ritsuka could die if she makes one wrong step! And you're telling me to calm down?!" I yell, storming up to him and pressing my index finger to his chest. "Do you really think I can sit here and not worry about my sister?"

"I can understand that. I mean a human would die if they fell." Mage goes over the edge and Ritsuka runs over to the edge to see if he's ok.

"Wow, you need to learn to relax, sweetheart." We hear his voice and look to the antenna of the Tokyo tower to see him standing on the side of it. "It would take a lot more than that fall to kill a devil. Same goes for your sister there."

Ritsuka looks over towards me. "Is what he's saying true? Are you not human?" She asks.

I turn my gaze to Mage, so I could glare at him, then turn it back to Ritsuka. "We'll go over this later, for now we get away from this devil."

"Do you really want to do that? I mean, I can hunt you guys down and devour Ritsuka's soul if you don't tell me where the Grimoire is." The atmosphere turns dark, and Mage's shadow shapes into the shape the normal person would suspect a devil would look.

"Ritsuka doesn't know, and if I told you, I might as well die. And since Ritsuka is the only reason I'm up here with you, I definitely won't tell you anything if you kill her." I protest.

"Wow, you have a lot of guts. I guess you want to see what happens when you defy a devil."

I look towards Ritsuka, noticing how scared she looks. My attention turns back to Mage, as I try to protect her.

At the same time Ritsuka lets out a scream, I yell, closing my eyes. "I won't let you hurt her!" I then open my eyes and see a bright light. The light was strong enough to scare away the dark atmosphere. I turn to Ritsuka, seeing the light is coming from her.
