I sprinted to a nearby park and hid behind a large tree.
That's when I called you.
"Binie-"
I cut myself off at the sound of your voicemail.
Tears rose in my eyes.
I called you again.
More passionately this time.
Voicemail.
I bit my lip hard, trying not to sob.
You were always there, so why weren't you here today?
I heard heavy footsteps from afar.
Like someone was running.
I could only guess it was Kai, so I hid behind a tree further into the park.
Like a game of hide and seek.
The present versus the future.
It was a dumb game, but I still played.
Kinda like loving you.
It's dumb, but I still do it. I can't help it.
You're all that's on my mind.
Your name.
It sounds too nice, like I'm kicking crisping leaves.
Catching snowflakes.
Smelling fresh-cut grass.
I called you again, this time it didn't go to voicemail.
You ended it before it could ring a single time.
I finally let out a pathetic sob, covering my head in my hands.
I hesitantly looked up again in case Kai was there.
But instead I saw something much worse.
I saw you sitting on a park bench.
๑ With a beautiful girl that, now, wore a pastel pink summer dress with the prettiest floral patterns on it. ๑
