It's been a while since you had heard the familiar click of your window in the middle of the night, but as soon as you heard it, you were wide awake.

Jace hadn't made any contact with you the last month or so, but you knew he just had a lot to do. You heard a grunt as his feet hit the floor and you sat up in your bed, running your eyes over the shadow standing in the middle of your bedroom.

Getting up from your bed to get a closer look at him, you spotted several injuries on the exposed skin.

«Rough night?» You asked as you always did, rummaging through your closet to find the first aid kit you had stuffed there in situations like this.

«Yeah...» He whispered back as you gestured for him to sit down on your bed.

You cleaned his wounds in silence, and didn't bother to put on any bandages, knowing he would draw a healing rune before he crawled under the covers anyway. It was the gesture of someone taking care of him that mattered to him anyway.

As you packed away the first aid kit, Jace found the t-shirt and sweatpants he always had in a box under your bed, changing out of his hunting gear.

«You hungry?»

«No, I'm good.» He shook his head, giving you a weak smile. You hadn't expected a yes with him in the state he was, but you had to ask just in case.

Jace could have a very loud stomach at times.

«Sleep it is then.» You quickly got under the covers, holding it up as Jace got under with you. You lay close together in the bed, face to face. Your hands running gently from his forehead to his chin, getting a content sigh in return.

«Y/n...» Jace started, his eyes heavy with sadness as he held your gaze in the dark. «I don't know what to do anymore. Everything is falling apart.» He whispered, tears gathering in his eyes.

«What happened?» You carefully asked, knowing he rarely wanted to talk about it.

«They hate me, all of them.» That's when the first tear fell, which you hurriedly caught with your thumb.

«Maybe it looks like it now, Jace, but they can't all hate you. That's impossible. They'll come around, you'll see.» You tried your best reassuring him. You didn't know a lot about the other people in Jace' life, but you knew they cared for him, loved him as much as you did, if that was even possible.

«You sure?» Jace had never looked more vulnerable than he did at that moment, and your heart broke for him.

«It's going to be okay, Jace. It's going to be okay.» You whispered, placing a soft kiss to his lips before pulling him close to you, his head resting on your chest.

You didn't sleep that night as you stayed awake, running your hand down Jace's back, letting him know even in his sleep that you were there for him.
