I can't believe I didn't write yesterday. I am so sorry. How terribly disloyal of me not to write. I hope you can forgive me.
I can't believe it's already been ten days since the fire. I've been thinking about my family a lot today, especially Lily. Sure,my heart breaks whenever I think about my parents, but I miss Lily most of all. She was such a sweet, sunny little girl who brought light to my life. A world without her is unimaginable, grey and lifeless. In particular, I am remembering one dark, stormy night, when me and Lily were looking out our bedroom window at the rain.
"Rosa?" Lily whispered to me.
"Yes?" I replied.
"When's the rain going to stop?"
"I don't know," I replied. "How come?"
"Because when the rain stops, there will be a rainbow."
"I don't think we'll see a rainbow this late at night," I told her. "But the moon will come out, and cast its beautiful light around the room. And the stars will come out. They make beautiful patterns in the sky. There's a star for every one of us out there. One for you, and one for me."
"I love you, Rosa."
"I love you too, Lily."
And to this day, I remember how lucky I felt to have such a beautiful sister.Oh, how I wish I could see her adoring eyes, hear her sweet voice asking why, hold her tight in my arms at least one more time. But now she's gone forever. I will never again see her, hear her, feel her. Just thinking about it makes me cry.
